LOL The police have been militarised for some time now. They act and think differently (because that is what they are taught) to the cops of the past.

Basically the militarization of police follows the "arms race" between gangs/cartels/etc and police , it didnt happen because ex military gear was made available for cheap , it happened because they need it now vs the 1950's.

No it happened post-9/11. They used that as an excuse to militarise the police.

You know that they prefer people below a certain IQ level, they want dumbed down people to do as they are told and not think too much.

Countries have had militarised police force for over 50 years.

Not really in the USA , other places Trump would call holes of some kind yes.
The driving force was the criminals getting better equipped so police did too , where we are now is pretty ridiculous with humvees etc going to police .

It's because it has just been resolved. Given Google's explanation it does not seem malice was involved. I'm happy with their explanation and now I'm off the conspiracy bandwagon (although large parts of right-wing Twitter will still be on it). :thumbsup:

It's not just about hardware. It's about ATTITUDE towards US citizens.

Did you notice how the "To Protect And Serve" slogan was done away with and a new breed of cop was introduced.
It used to be about upholding the law, but now it's about dishing out the law.

To be fair , the protect and serve thing was a little misleading to casual onlookers.
Cops are not there to protect you or serve you and its in their fine print , like firefighters not being obliged to stop fires.
Yes the police's attitude has turned rather grim when dealing with even the smallest incident.

SWAT has been there since the 60s and 70s. They've been now increased in size and their equipment more sophisticated.
