Zuma visited Governor Rochas Okorocha in Owerri in a surprise visit that was only announced the same day by the South Africa presidency.

As well as the statue, Zuma was given a chiefaincy title and had a road named after him.

Local media reported that the cost of the statue was around 520million Naira -- equivalent to $1.4 million.
Okorocha also conferred on Zuma the Imo Merit Award, the highest award the state gives to distinguished individuals.

Supreme Court rejects cases over 'qualified immunity' for police

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear eight cases involving a legal defense called qualified immunity that can be used to shield government officials from lawsuits, including seven involving police accused of excessive force or other misconduct.

There are not enough museums and some statues simply won't fit inside a building.

Also be careful what you wish for, some cultures & religions won't take kindly to your wish to remove statues. In doing so you would also be violating their inalienable human rights. You'd do well in the Taliban though, those mofos share your views on statues.

Build more museums simple. I don't mean destroy them move them, we don't need statues of Queen Victoria crap like that outside of museums.

How are you gonna get the sphinx, statue of liberty, christ the redeemer, some monstrous buddas, easter islanders etc into buildings? And are you gonna explain to those people why you are removing their religious effigies protected under their human rights?
 
Newly released Minneapolis dispatcher audio reveals concern over officers' use of force on George Floyd

A concerned dispatcher watching the death of George Floyd on surveillance cameras felt it was necessary to alert a supervisor about the use of force applied by the officers involved, according to an audio recording released by the Minneapolis Police Department on Monday.

The audio stamp on the recording indicates the call was made at 8:30 p.m. local time on May 25, around the time Floyd was being transported by ambulance to the Hennepin County Medical Center.

"I don't know, you can call me a snitch if you want to, but we have the cameras up for 320's call, and…I don't know if they had to use force or not, but they got something out of the back of the squad, and all of them sat on this man, so I don't know if they needed you or not, but they haven't said anything to me yet,” the dispatcher said on the audio call.

The Minneapolis Police Department also released two 911 transcripts, including one from an unidentified off-duty city firefighter who witnessed the incident and said, “I’m on the block of 38th and Chicago and I literally watched police officers not take a pulse and not do anything to save a man, and I am a first responder myself, and I literally have it on video camera… I just happened to be on a walk so, this dude, this, they (expletive) killed him so..."

The off-duty firefighter offered to speak to a supervisor but when the 911 dispatcher tried to connect him, the call was disconnected, according to the transcript.

In another 911 transcript, an unidentified caller mentioned how an officer “pretty much just killed this guy that wasn’t resisting arrest.” The caller is then offered a chance to speak to a supervisor at the Minneapolis Third Precinct.

You said statues serve no purpose? Which is it?

Why not say statues of Christianity, I find their god repulsive (ps he was ok with slavery too)?
Why not a statue of the spinx which represent some pharaoh, those mofos had thousands of slaves?

If you say statues it encompasses all statues, you don't get to be the arbiter of 'these' & 'those' as everybody will have a different view on them.

Many on the Western left would secretly love to live under a Taliban regime. No dissent allowed, society frightfully earnest, reporting people who don't comply with the rules, no real fun allowed etc.
