Getting Adverts on my Website

for income purposes..
1000 users +- $100

my average this year is $4 :D

nice ha ha, i have got $17 from a site that gives you money for making people download off their site.. i.e. you spam links to your uploads on their site ..

A long time ago in my aherm*cough younger days I set up a porn website. No word of a lie. It was online for 2 years and damn did I work hard to get it working well. I was an affiliate of as many sites as I possibly could (which then entitled me to use their pics etc) I had over 17 000 pics on my site. All pay per click etc. I was averaging about 10 000 unique hits a month which wasn't too bad for a beginner. Anyway all these bastids did was look at the pics instead of click on them. In 2 years I made 50 cents U.S for all that hard work.

I'd advise you research it good and proper before you start relying on your site to make you money :D

With all due respect, I am not planning to put up a porn website, and I am not looking at using google or any other international pay per click mechanism.

I'm talking about a tourism based web site tailored for people who would be visiting SA for 2010, the Lion's Rugby tour, etc. As such, it would be specifically targeted at people who would be interested in using the services supplied by my advertisers.

If I can claim that the user who clicks the advertisement would not be a timewaster, but more likely someone who would use the service offered, then I'm sure I can place a premium on that click.

I'm thinking of a figure like R1.00 per click, but perhaps with an upper limit.

And maybe an initial free period to allow the advertiser to assess the value of the product because, obviously, if the client is benefiting from hits passed through from my site, then he would be reluctant to cancel the agreement.

These are all just ideas that I have, and despite googling quite extensively, I have been unable to find any information that would confirm or refute any of this.

No way man I'd never pose for porn my todger isn't big enough plus I haven't eaten Jungle Oats in years so my arms and legs are twigs :D

Actually, I did find this link.

But as it's American, I'm not sure it applies.

It should do mate. But it doesn't seem to be the exact thing that you want from what I understand?

As much as people laugh at porn sites etc, they are pretty clued up when it comes to web dev. I went to that link and sort of thing was exactly the sort of thing that was on my site. However it was in my younger days and very early on in my "web design" phase, so I really didn't understand how things worked. Was in it more for making my millions and maybe the chance of getting laid (I kid you not thats how naive I was :D) by a pornstar.

I'm amazed at how much anger you hold, but quite clearly this forum is not a place to come to if you need assistance.

Thank you and Good Day.

Dude, what the **** is your problem? You're the one that got defensive and insulting towards him? There was nothing wrong with his advice. YOU asked the question and obviously your moronic idiotic behavior and chip on that shoulder is preventing you from actually getting GOOD data out of searches.

This question has been asked and answered a few times by myself on this very forum. So **** you if you start insulting people who are only answering your post.

AcidRazor ... duuuuuude ... I love you honeybunz!
Now stop being nasty to the snake please.

He started it *hmpf*

"What should I charge for my new unique idea for stuff, the internet has no answers, boo hoo"

Well 20 years ago my grandad went to businesses and did the spy thing to check out their pricing and clients. Hell, The Office (US) Season 5 has an episode about it even.

People think that just because the internet is here that everything is just easier. Pull your head out of the 90's ass.... the bubble... she happened... it was real. Everyone LIKE the snake thought they'd make a quick buck. Launched their "brilliant" ideas and fell flat on their face because they didn't do what a normal business would do. Research competition, draw up a business plan and execute it. And yes, capital is still needed to launch nevermind what you think you'll do for money. Time = capital if you do it yourself. Think about it.

But no, he wants to be spoonfed. Off a Software & Web Development forum, of what he should charge his clients...

Well Rinkhals, just listening to what you're proposing...

I'm going to give you some free advise now... don't bother, you won't make any money... There are lots of WAY more established sites pretty much doing that at the moment.. such as wheretostay.co.za etc etc...

For it to work, and for you to charge a premium, you'd need to have a reputation and hard numbers of click throughs to converted business etc etc.. and given your questions I can pretty much assume you don't have the reputation, or the hard numbers.

Its not putting him down at all... its giving him a realistic assessment of his "proposal" or at least as much as we know of it.
