Getting old.

You know when you are young?

And you swear to yourself that you will always love playing games and that these old fogeys who don't like playing games must surely be at death's door?

It is very likely this is going to happen to you.

It's happened to me and I really want to play Dragon Age.

For years I often thought how incredibly I awesome it would be to eventually face the Lich King in WOW. Around about the same time Frozen Throne was released I started feeling the pinch of boredom so tried other things like COD, Halo even some older titles like Age of Empires to try and get the spark back. Since our guild has been picking our way through Icecrown on the way to Arthas, its felt more like a job these days and I just cannot get the enjoyment back. Spend more and more time logged off listening to music or watching tele.

We'll down Arthas in the next few weeks and strangely enough I'm hoping it'll come sooner rather than later so I can just not log on anymore.

Think I'm getting old as well.

It took you THAT long to get bored of WoW? Jeez... That must be some kind of achievement :p

Then you must find a genre you like. Maybe dragon age has to much to read. I found that kinda boring myself. If I wanted to read a fantasy novel I will read a proper book. Not some half assed story.

Sounds like CRPGs aren't for you :)

HA no no no. Dragon age just did not hit the chord with me. It lacked in so many areas. I am a true crpg player. I beat temple of elemental evil and pool of radiance:D I just did not really enjoy the story for dragon aged. For me the plot felt very regurgitated,it lacked in different type of enemies the bad human dude was forgettable.

Now temple of elemental evil had one of the most memerable bad dudes(damn I forgot his name:erm:) The leader of the fire temple.

"The filthy men rode on their filthy horse in there filthy armour" Now when I heard that for the first time it made me lol. Oh and werewolves trying to jack your items priceless:D And trying to persuade a troll chief to join the fire temple by bribing him or you can get him to join your group.

Not to mention the amount of different enemies like mushrooms or jelly cubes:D

I am not old at all but i find myself struggling to pick up a game and finish it.

I find myself playing Left 4 Dead 2 more than anything else as short 1 hour doses of the game a day are enough to keep me happy.

But i do miss the days where i would spend a whole weekend doing nothing but playing games.
When i was at school i would look forward to getting home as soon as possible so i could play Games (was Warcraft 3, Half Life and Diablo 2 back then :p)

I didn't even make it that far. I played about 5mins of Dragon Age. I've noticed the lead character didn't have a voice and I wasn't keen on playing for 60 hours with a mute. Why oh, why did Bioware not use Mass Effect's engine for this game. :(

Yeah i'm 23 and I get bored of most games after 10 mins, even less sometimes. Multiplayer is a different story, only thing that keeps me interested is MW2 MP and BC2 MP.

Had to force myself to play Dragon Age, even though it only lasted for 2 hours until I stopped playing.

Same happened to me. I use to play games like all the time. Finish every game possible and so on but now I'm playing a game for like 10min or less and I feel bored already. There is the exception of some games but the majority of them I can't play for more than 5 - 30min at a time. even multiplayer games like COD4 I can only play about 2 maps and then I'm bored. I played F1 2010 for like 30 min with my G27 steering wheel and never played it again

Then it must be the games, lack of finish on some games, needing to be patched haphazard stories, etc...

Thankfully I have not suffered this boredom. I still game constantly. My gaming have changed slightly thought. I don't bother with fps and hack and slash games. I only buy from the genres I enjoy.

So its basicly crpg games and football with the odd strategy.

Concerning dao I loved it, have nearly 500 hours in the game. I loved the mute character it meant I could shape the character like I wanted and not be restrict to the voice the developers picked. I am very disappointed that bw decided to go back to a voiced character and restrict it to only humans and use the dialog wheel for dao 2. But we shall see I still trust them.

I don`t think its so much about getting old.... its just more difficult to pick up something you haven`t played before.
If you`ve shot 10 000 000 nazis in the head over the course of 2 decades it starts getting monotonous... regardless of the graphical engine upgrades.
Most of the stories are also dumb...

Makes me miss the 90s when games were still original and didn`t need a story.

Funny, I was never much a RPG player myself. Started playing Arcania,Gothic 4 and I must say I am having loads of fun. It's got me hooked. Fifteen hours later I have leveled up to level 24. Great fun.

Never did try any of the previous Gothics - might just give them a try..... ;)

The other gothics are very different , much harder. Arcania is aimed more at the casual market while the other three were aimed at the crpg gamers.
