Looking to pick the brains of anyone who's been through this before.

I made a blog post which amounted to a poor reference for a former employee. A very poor one. Now that employee is suing me for defamation.

I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure I know what needs to be done (An application to strike out), but if anyone has any specific advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

1) That would be the wrong thing that needs to be done.

2) Go consult a lawyer.

You should probably not be posting this under your real name either.

I think the post above the Snowclaw one. Where he names the ex-employee... He has already admitted on his blog that some of his allegations were false, but said allegations were not removed. I understand her wanting to sue him. I think the OP is in the wrong here. Badly so.

*Edit
It might all be just conjecture, though, with the OP trying (successfully) to get extra traffic to his blog.

Pucker up and accept that you are about to get your ass handed to you in court.

I don't see the big hoo-haa. Should've just sorted it out between them. Why bring blogs and the internet into the equation. Now at some point this will be in court - I mean, really?

Just stupid imo.

Yeah, would be awesome. Considering my budget for this is approximately R0.00, that will prove difficult.

:)

Maybe he can counter-sue? There seems to be evidence of the other guy defaming the OP on facebook as well.

Yeah, there's grounds for that (more than just what's on Facebook now), but I'm not likely to do that.

Yeah, tried that. See "crazy".

Yeah - I think he made it too easy to find.
First Google result, not hard to find the post in question

Considering one of the things I hired her for was SEO, you'd think she'd know how to deal with that. Guess my poor performance review was somewhat justified, not so?

I've taken it down now though. Folks will have to go to the wayback machine to find it.
