I have one and very happy with it. It does the same as a normal timer you can install at your DB board (+- R 500 depending if DIY or you get and electrician), however it has the added advantage of showing you the temp as well as water sensor for an early warning burst geyser. Is it worth the cost and instalation ? It will depend on your usage profile.
Another gadget that can help you save electricity is an Electricity Monitor, look for the Wireless type with USB support to download data to your PC as can be found at http://www.passivehouse.co.za
You can programme it to show you the actual cost in Rands you are using at that time and show your family if they leave lights on how much money you are spending when no one is in the room.
