One of the better, more serious, scenes from the original...

I'm not sure if you're agreeing with or disagreeing with me...

The scene you linked is a serious conversation and makes him look like a real person and not a cardboard cut out.

So thanks I guess.

Sorry my bad, was totally agreeing with you - Winston was a real character and not a stereotype, he may have been an everyman but he had real depth with believable reactions.

It's really what went wrong with reboot. Where the original took itself seriously, the reboot turns it into a fart joke. Paul Feig seems to be good at subversive parodies, which is fine, but then give him the parody, not the actual series.

The thing is, recasting the movie with an all female, protagonist cast could have been a cool idea. You just new it would be a grrl power, w@nkfest given that the culture is awash in feminist BS at the moment.

The fact is if you make the decision to do the all female thing with a movie that is loved by a bunch of middle-aged guys who were teenagers when the original came out, it's obvious that you are trying to make a point not a great movie. You're doing it because you know it's going to put a bunch of people, you perceive as sexist, on the back foot so you can gloat when your perception is "confirmed". There is no doubt in my mind that when the producers and director were putting this together that they were hoping to piss people off so.

The fact that the black character is a ****ing, working class, stereotype just confirmed this at the trailer stage. Really? A black woman being a scientist or engineer would have just stretched viewer credibility to breaking point? When you see that sort of ignorant, callousness from a "feminist" you just know you are dealing with social retardation.

So, really, that it is a complete, man hating, piece of crap and just generally crap to boot, is no surprise. Everyone with half a brain was 90% sure it would be when it was announced.

There was one scene in the trailer that captures this - The new film seems to think that a massive amount of slime somehow outdoes the original but it lacks all of the scare moments leading up to it. Venkman getting slimed in the first film was the result of him getting charged by an enraged "slimer" and him being terrified by it. Sure it ended with a funny crack but the moments leading up to contained genuine fear.

They should've marketed it as a bootquel not a remake.
Get some cameos from original cast.
Don't fuk with an original comedy classic.
Never works.

Melissa McCarthy is terrible. In interviews when she's herself she's pretty funny, but her movies are garbage. The only reason they sometimes work is because other people get to play off her, like Jason Statham etc who you'd never expect it from.

Kristen Wiig can be funny, but she also doesn't work in everything. And she's not big enough to make the movie a must see.

The rest just sort of seems like thrown together stereotypes/idiots.
