Hi guys

Got my Siemens Gigaset working with 12voip for outgoing calls and DOW NETWORKS for incoming 011 DID....all 100%

Only one problem - the CLI works for SIP calls (that are forwarded to my SIP ac by DOW)..

However my normal analogue/fixed line calls give no CLI.

Before you ask, YES CLI is active on my landline and YES CLI is coming up on my other fixed line phones that are connected to the same telephone line....
and YES i have done a firmware update as well
and i have contacted Siemens and received no reply from them....

anyone here that knows what the problem can be?

Just a quick question... does your Siemens ring when you dial the Telkom land-line number? If not, it needs to be localised; if it does, then I'm not sure.

You need to change the frequency for SA. Try the following:
menu --> settings --> Base --> 94762003 --> change 0 to 1

Hope it works!

does not have any such option under the BASE settings nor anywhere else in the menu from what i can see...

Here is an answer i received from an Australian forum:

Australia uses Bellcore/Telcordia GR-30 CORE CLASS (Custom Local Area Signaling Services) standard*
Anyone from Australia would be using this standard and so their C470IP CLI experience may not be relevant to you in Saudi Arabia.

South Africa uses ETSI ETS 300 648, ETS 300 659-1 CLIP (Calling Line Identity Presentation) FSK standard*
Saudi Arabia uses ETSI ETS 300 648, ETS 300 659-1 CLIP (Calling Line Identity Presentation) DTMF standard variant 1*

Here is a page with a C475IP for sale including a warning that this Belgian approved model uses FSK CLIP and is not compatible with DTMF CLIP.
www.voipsolutions.be/voip-wireless-dect/siemens-gigaset-c475-ip-voip-phone.html

A C470IP purchased in South Africa would possibly also only work with FSK and not DTMF. A DTMF to FSK converter may fix this. For example I have seen this one suitable for Siemens phones in the Netherlands:
www.telec.nl/producten/p55224/fsk_naar_dtmf_of_dtmf_naar_fsk_omzetter.html

You would have to check for the correct converter yourself, other ones may also work but I have no knowledge or experience in this area.

This may or may not apply to your C470IP as there are different versions for different markets. It is just a possibility for your consideration and may be totally incorrect.

*Standards from www.soft-switch.org/spandsp-doc/adsi_page.html

This seems to make sense but i hope there is an easier solution like what u saying....
In any case, where in South Africa can i purchase a DTMF to FSK adaptor ?

You won't see an option. It's hidden and undocumented. Just follow the instructions FrikSA posted. i.e. Once in the base menu, just start keying in that code rather than searching for a submenu.

Thanks ...
tried it and bingo > it did bring up the menu....But alas it aint working...

just to clarify > i purchased the unit in South Africa and am using it in Saudi Arabia...
what would be the correct frequency for Saudi Arabia?

thanks again for the assistance

I had to jump through hoops before Siemens SA gave out the abovementioned code... They keep them well guarded, for no apparent reason. Perhaps speak to the local Siemens office in Saudi.

I tried - None of the IP range are supported here - thats the reason i made sure i got it in South Africa....
i wonder, do u think the dtmf to fsk converter will work?
or must there be a code out there that will correct it?

It should support both forms of signalling, provided it is configured correctly.

The trick would be to find the codes for changing the signalling config...

aha...
suppose Germany would know what the codes are...problem is their SUPPORT have still not responded..
i wonder if u can try asking someone there in SA?
maybe they can help..
or forward me a tel no/email and ill try and get it out of them..

I eventually got a working solution from Siemens in Dubai....they first gave me 2 options which did not work but this one works and now my phone feels complete with the CLI.
here is the solution for anyone else that may need it:

Menu -> Settings -> Base -> 9 4 7 6 2 0 0 1 -> 09447 01636 13979 -> OK

Hi there,

I recently bought a C610a IP and am using it in Saudi arabia and facing the same problem :) My menu doesn't have base under settings. Any idea how I can change the settings? If not how did you contact siemens Dubai maybe I can do the same.

Appreciate your help.

Regards,
Babar

Managed to contact dubai gigaset which forwarded me to gigaset saudi arabia ww.abdulwahed.com. They provided me with a configuration file which i uploaded to the base and viola CLI is working :)
Outstanding support I must say.
