I dont know about this. Everyone also has a right to go where they please, but transport is expensive. Does this mean I have a right to free fuel every month? free bus or train tickets?

It's the governments job to provide basic services, not vodacom nor MTN

FFS... if you want something from a private company, pay for it, they are not charities.

This "We Demand" BS has to stop.

WTF. Are they farking mad. This uneducated mentality must stop. If you want something lift your fat ass and work for it, like the rest of the world.

I think it is only fair if they agree to work for these companies free of charge. Oh, and obviously get Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, Cisco and other companies to provide free equipment as well. And let us not forget about the free smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Nokia and others – not fair to not have the same equipment :)

TB, You forgot we have achieved a "Demandocracy". This is indeed ludicrous, and if you ask the average guy on the street what he is paying for calls and SMSs, they don't know. When you take time to explain to people that there are cheaper options available nowadays to communicate, they stare at you, totally lost. And tell you they still like their old trusted CSP, for no good reason. Or tell you that once in a while they can make a call for Mahala !

So stupid - Stop prepaid subsidizing post paid. Have they seen the rates of late? All post paid does is fund prepaid......

The "we demand" folk in SA need to wake up and realise that not everything can be free in SA. They will always have to pay for things, otherwise "things" would not exist

There is only one point they made that I agree with - data bundles should not expire after 30 days.

The rest - wanting free calls and data is absolute, mindless lunacy. Who do they expect will pick up the tab for all their free stuff. It is like asking for a free monthly voucher that will allow them them to go to a bank and get free money !!! WTF

This demand mentality is one which will bring this country to it's knees. Look at the bad state the mining industry is already in, due to their demands and strike actions

- Everyone should get a free basic amount of airtime and data the same way that we have free basic water and electricity : Since when?? I have to pay for my water and electricity...

Because I'm alive, I demand that others subsidise my existence. More than that, I demand the same luxuries other people have. It's my right because I exist!

The much more sensible approach to this would have been to look at how to zero rate certain services rather than simply demand X amount for free. I heard a recent radio interview were schools in other African countries were working with the mobile providers to provide zero rated access to things like wikipedia. This IMO makes more sense and is probably more achievable (if the providers were to play ball).
