GO Launcher EX

Another question, I now have GO installed, as well as Nova Prime. Surely these do not always run in the background? Also, for example, if I'm using Nova, does TouchWiz still run in the background? Will this not affect the already dismal battery life even more?

Slootvreter. WTF?

Go out & have a beer. You are losing it. :p

Besides icon themes and a sliding dock, how is it much more customizable than TouchWiz? Perhaps you can resize widgets...bleh.

Yeah I want to be able to customize icons on the dock. But it also has Scroll Effects, Wallpaper scrolling, Lock desktop, Drawer customizations, Layout backup etc.

Touchwiz Nature UX is actually not too shabby.

In fact, I love it more than HTC Sense.

Not a fan of either. Have to say that Sense has better weather animations then anything else (if you are in to that sort of thing).

Have you used Samsung's official Jelly Bean ROM on your S3?

Used GO Launcher. Bloated.
Used z- launcher (think that's the name). Very minimalistic. Meh.

Always find myself turning back to SE's default launcher (TimeScape I think)

Tried both, and I've ended up with Apex launcher- I like the customisability. GO's endless widget requirements add up quickly- a launcher doesn't have to do everything.

I still need to try Nova/Nova Prime.

Yes, but switched to Nova after running Touchwiz for a couple of days. I want to be able to change the dock icons and I want to be able to uninstall an app by holding the icon...

Can anyone comment on Apex (free) vs Nova (free or paid version?). Consensus seems to be these are both better than GO, but which is BEST? :)

Heard plenty of good about Apex, bought Nova Pro while on sale and that is why I am sticking to it for now.

But this might help some:

Apex Launcher

Nova Launcher

I am using Apex. Used Nova a while back. Both are very similar. A while back, the consensus wad that Nova is a tad more stable (Apex already being very stable). But I still preferred Apex and never bothered trying with Nova again. My sense of which is used more, makes me think that Nova is used a bit more.

Another thing I remember being different, is the options you get when you long press an icon on the homescreen, or long press an empty space on homescreen, or the options you get when you press the 'menu' softbutton on the homescreen. I dunno, it gives me more over there with Apex, and I just like it.

But they are actually quite close in how they work AFAIK...

Nova launcher unread icon look like this:

Which icon pack are you using there? Looks excellent!

LOL, I will indeed go have one, once I am finished working. But still, it's a question I'd like to have an answer to, if someone has one :)

Use Nova Launcher, extremely stable and stupidly fast.

My weapon of choice for any Samsung ICS ROM.

Now that I use the Samsung JB ROM, the default Nature UX is superb.

Nova does not allow me to change the dock background. Not much more customizable that standard TouchWiz. Few extra flip effects, that's all.

Also wondered about this, I don't think it has a noticeable effect on battery. Looks like Nova uses about 0.2% of my battery.

If you are worried about Touchwiz running in the background Root and then freeze it.

Technically, the touch wiz launcher won't run in the background if you use an alternate launcher. However, the touch wiz framework will still be running as this allows the Samsung proprietary apps to work.

The main problem with touch wiz is not the launcher, it's the silly color scheme they use in the notification tray and all the dialogue boxes.

Apex Launcher seems to be quite cool, with notifications and an app that allows dock gackground changes. Does anyone know if the notifications include unread counts for Exchange email accounts as well? I want to make sure before I buy it.
