GOAL.COM's views on SA for 2010

I don't know if I should carry on laughing at those comments or cry!

I didn't read the whole thing. The Indian guy made me laugh though... comparing the IPL to the FIFA World Cup is like comparing cement to marble. Anyhoo... all that is a load of bollocks anyway. We have the WC - so deal with it!

Had a great laugh coz everyone are afraid of the terrorists and the weather!

Like I said in previous posts, I wouldn't touch Goal.com with a barge pole.

Good to see they're aware of the crime though.

My two favourit quotes

2) Weather - even though it's winter - security and terrorism.

3) Most Arab people believe that the best place to host a World Cup is Europe, as they have a vision of Africa as having poor weather all year round!

ROFL WTF does this guy smoke?

Accommodation and crime during the event is my main concern, but that is being taken care of and addressed as I am writing this,

Crime being taking care of???

So the general consensus is that their biggest concerns are traffic, weather, disease and some show on Hallmark called "Law and Order".

Well:

Traffic: if that's a major concern to you, then solve your accommodation concerns at the same time and just sleep at the fscking stadium. Really now - you're clutching at straws if this is a worry.

Weather: it's winter now and I'm sitting around in shorts and a thin, long sleeve shirt. And the weather concerns are coming from people who suggest that Europe is in a better position to host the event. Yes, because playing in 3 feet of snow, being pelted by incessant rain is the way football should be played. Not in glorious sunshine - wake up FIFA.

Disease: well oh unenlightened ones, I see you have come up with a solution all on your own - vaccine. Well I'm afraid to say there is no vaccine for stupidity, otherwise your parents would have had you vaccinated at birth. Unfortunately for you, ignorance is also not a disease, well not one your local GP can vaccinate for - so I guess you're all stuffed then. I think they're all just a little upset that they're going to have to wear a dome when they dip into the African chocolate pool. What a schlep.

Law and Order: This show is on Hallmark (which we receive via DSTV in SA) every weeknight at 19:00, so you can put this problem to bed now. Alternatively, just bring your DVD box sets. If it's the crime you're worried about, then just do us all a favour, and don't buy your drugs (which you're all evidently taking) whilst on foot in Hillbrow - this is not a good idea.

I'd like to suggest to you all that you rather do some research regarding our country, it's infrastructure, weather and people before placing your feet firmly between your teeth again. For football editors, you're obviously not altogether clued up on the game. And a special message to Mr Mohammed Awaad (the Arabic editor) - whatever **** you're smoking in that shisha - it's working...

Goal.com is quite the suck.
I saw a documentary in germany about 'gangsters' plans for 2010,they are going to wait outside the airport and rob the tourists as soon as they set foot outside the airport. They even interviewed some of the 'gangsters'.I was in tears,I thought it was a parody.Turns out it was not!

whatever you people think of Goal.com, they have riveting reads on the Italian league. It might not be Tolstoj, but then again, some Dan Brown every now and again is really what you need;)

Anyhoo... Most of their articles are just what was written in papers/said on television/radio so the only real crap is the articles and as I said before... it might not be the best opinion on the planet, but it makes for a great read... :D

Edit: @DJK - The weather issue is due to it being summer in Europe and general stupidity/lack of google-fu on the part of the writers. anyone who has two brain cells that are in communication with one another could see that the weather right now is fine and dandy. Those worries will disappear quite quickly once the Confed Cup is done and dusted.

I find goal.com rambles on a load of horse manure... they mix a bag of makeup stories in with facts...

Peter Pedroncelli, Goal.com Africa

1) Absolutely, being close to World Cup preparations and seeing the changes that are happening on a daily basis at a rapid pace, I am confident that the first African World Cup will be a great success.

2) Accommodation and crime during the event is my main concern, but that is being taken care of and addressed as I am writing this, with a great deal of money and effort going in to ensuring a top class event.

3) There is excitement and confidence that a great World Cup is on the way, and South Africa can provide the world with a great event. It is therefore my job to convince my fellow editors that South Africa 2010 will be an unforgettable event, for all the right reasons.

4) Absolutely, I can’t wait!
first african world cup? didn't we host the Cricket World Cup? didn't we host the Rugby World Cup? Does he mean soccer world cup?

Well... hmmmmmmmm... It's a footy site, so which bloody World Cup do you think he was talking about:rolleyes:

Anyway, those other WC's aren't even close to the size of the FIFA World Cup. Not to mention the new technologies that need to be used... HD streaming was not a worry for the LOC of the 1995 WC.
