Hi guys

I realize this might be a duplicate thread, but the few threads I could find were not exactly what I was looking for.

I am on the look out for a smartphone or phone that is whatsapp capable for preferentially under R1000.

I was looking at the Gobii IIP from Kalahari (http://http://www.kalahari.com/Electronics/gobii-4-Smartphone-IIP-Black-200MB-x-12-months-free-data_p_48346743), and all that I am worried about is the battery life. EWN said that it lasts for 2 days on their review of the device, but I highly doubt that.

Another phone I looked at was the Huawei Y300, but it only has 512mb Ram compared to the Gobii's 1GB.

I would really appreciate it if someone who has purchased the gobii could give me some feedback on its performance and battery life?

Regards

I don't know gobii.

You really shouldn't need more than 512MB ram to run what's app.

Are you only interested in android?

Nokia asha 503?

On the Android side perhaps a zte v795? Very nice looking phone and its a dual core.

I don't think you can go wrong with an android from Samsung in this price range either.

What you must realise is no android smartphone will last more than a full 24 hour day.
Unless you hardly use it.

Nokia are the ones with better battery life. My 301 could last 2 days with what's app. Once I turn my data connection off, I can get about 11 days without charging.

I have never had a dual sim.If you say put a Vodacom sim in it for voice and the Cell C sim for data will it automatically use the data sim whenever you use the internet or do you have to manually switch sims every time you want to use the data sim?

In settings you have a sim manager where you setup what the default sim is for each action, so for example I set mine up like this:

3G Data - Cell C sim (to use the free 200MB)
Video Calling - Cell C sim
Voice - Vodacom prepaid sim
sms - Vodacom prepaid sim

Interestingly you can still receive voice calls on both sims, but not simultaneously. If you are on a voice call with one sim the the other sim will go to voicemail.
