Going cashless

I just looked through my records and realised that I last withdrew cash at an ATM on 31 Oct 2021.

I rarely draw cash from an ATM. It's invariably cheaper to get it from the till at checkers.

Keys and wallets and bank cards etc etc etc also go missing... the risk remains the same.

Also all these systems still have physical, non-electronic failsafes. I still have all these keys and wallets etc at hand and safe, I just don't carry them around everywhere.

The whole taxi industry and informal trading sector is old school. In fact, most of the country is old school of we're going by averages but some journalists are hell bent on proving us wrong.

snapscan is not really ubiquitous here, so phone payment is not an option at 80-90% of the places I shop at.

People still use physical cash? I don't remember the last time I went to an ATM to withdraw money. It's always either tap, insert or swipe.

Haven’t used an ATM in probably 5 maybe even 10 years.

Draw money with groceries at the till once every three months or so just because my domestic lady sometimes wants a bit of cash for transport otherwise it’s all EFT.

Otherwise everything is cardless.

All I use it my phone or my watch.

No need for card except when drawing money which is still a dumb limitation.

Nope. You use your phone. Google wallet, Apple pay, Samsung pay ...

Looks like you need an nfc phone, my newer iphone was stolen, so am on an older one. will wait.

China payment works on QR in apps (Wechat or Alipay mostly), so no real limitations.
