Hey all,

Ok I am currently using two billion 400g routers....

1 is down in the main house that is connected to the internet and i have a ethernet cable running up to the cottage (my place) connected to another billion 400g.

All the computers can see each other and access the internet no problem. The problem comes in when i try to setup my xbox 360 as a media extender. The xbox 360 is connected to the router in my place and the computer that has the media is also connected to the router in my place. When i try to set it up media center on windows 7 SAYS it cannot set up the extender...

The odd thing is when I was using a tenda router in my place the xbox 360 worked fine.

Any help aids or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

How far is the distance between house and cottage for interests sake?

MTU is a setting you will find on your billion routers, I remember x-box devices having issues with MTU settings, but they usually yell and scream about this.

the cable length is 80metres.

I have look in all the menus of the billion and cant find the MTU setting anywhere.... :(

this is a long shot, but possibly the cable is not of a decent quality?
Any chance you could move all the equipment to a single location, and test. If it works through both routers etc then you can be fairly certain its the cable

i doubt thats the problem as i can access the computers downstair all fine and file sharing works fine. I can even stream media to the Samsung LED downstairs no problem. Its just the stupid xbox that wont set up as an extender.

update for those interested.... finally figured out what was stopping the communication between the xbox and the computer...
on the computer I had enabled internet sharing on the lan connection and this was stopping the communication for some reason. Now it works... Happy :)
