Golf V GTi drivers

400kmph:( damn 45l tank!!!
Never let it go in reserve though

I am getting around 450km per tank, I usually only fill up to auto stop 1. I think that if I drove the vehicle nicely I would get a lot more, I tend to drive the car a little harder since the upgrade. I see that if I am on the highway and I set the cruise control to 120/130 it recalculates to somewhere around 700.

I always see a whole lot of GTi's on the roads of JHB/Midrand and when I pull up next to them they are not interested in doing a robot to robot. Perhaps it is my bad luck.

Where have all the upgraded GTi's gone.

HEHEHE Ok im not sure if you took me seriously or u taking the p!55.... So to clear it up incase I get reprimanded by every member... When I say " I playstation alot more since my chip" I mean I set the car to DSG and use the Paddles as if it were a PS3 control and have a bit of fun ... :p
On the freeway I get 650 as well and normal Urban 500 - 550.. so its in line...

Anyone have issues with the auto lights during the day?

Actually thought u had the ps2 setup on your car, as in an actual playstation :o , not paddle mode dsg.. :)
Seen a few cars with the actual ps2 setup... think thats a bit over the top

Yup...i use autolights and have the same issues as you. In the mornings especially. I just ignore it :)

Yeah the onboard PS2 is a bit OTT - But hey diff strokes for diff folks

Good info, thanks - at least now I know it happens to others... ive given up on it hehe.

Have any of you guys extended your motorplan/warranty? My car is still under the 60K/3year warranty. Someone called me saying that i should extend it to 100K/5yr. Downside is i need to start paying for the extended motor plan each month from July, even though the car is still covered under the initial standard motorplan. Why cant i start paying once my warranty expires? My dealer mentioned to me that i could do that, but this was a while back, when i bought the car. Im a bit confused.

I just had my 45K and I want to upgrade it. Im not sure about paying for it now... I am going to pay for it on my 60K. Be aware of the options, Automotion service plan only covers services, Automotion Maintenance plan covers the lots (The way Im going) More info: http://www.vw.co.za/maintenance/automotion/

I see on the VW website they say 3 year / 120,000.... Warranty. So if I upgrade the maintenance plan does that increase the 3 years warranty to 5 years warranty or just the KM's... Anybody know?

I've read a few pages in this thread and some of you guys are clowns, and can talk a lot of BS.
I've owned a few GTI's (Mk2, MKIV, MKV). I currently have a 07 GTI, which Im thinking of replacing with a 08 model soon.
WRT the auto lights. It irritates me aswell. Its supposed to come on if you drive over 140km/h and go off under 60km/h. Its called the motorway feature. Mine comes on at about 160km/h, but doesn't go off under 60km/h. Some mornings it comes on in bright sunlight. I normally just switch it off.

so what makes you so special for owning a few GTi's ?

and what (in your opinion) is BS ?

@ Awesum, i think you're a clown. I've owned a few GTI's too.. from Mk1's all the way to MK5's. That doesnt make me less or more knowledgeable than someone else. We are all here to learn after all. ;)

Awesum... you are such a .... argh you know what.... not worth the time - but thanks for the input regarding the headlights - AHAHA

Firstly I didnt claimed to be special or more knowledgeable because I owned a few GTI's.
I've only read the 1st 2 pages of this thread and there is a guy claiming that a GTI V would reach 200KW with just a chip. That IMHO is BS.
I know a few guys with lots of mods and they still struggle to get 200KW. It is possible but not with just a chip on pump fuel.
2nd there is no Revo that you can plug into your 12V socket thats going to give to more power. You can chip your car with Revo and buy a SPS switch which you can use to switch the map back to stock if you want to.

The clown statement wasnt aimed at anyone.
Again I am NOT special and I know I am a clown.:)

Thats would be me...
Its already proven with the "147kw" and now with the "169kw" I think 200+ is easily gettable.:)

Never heard of the piggy back chips? Shame man.

I know from middle 2006 on, its about 147KW atw, and 200KW is atainable, but not easily and definitely not with just a chip on pump fuel.

Why would anyone want to splice wires on a GTI V under warranty to put in an unreliable piggyback system, when they can simply flash the EEPROM via the OBD?
Get your facts straight. Revo does not do piggyback. They only do port tuning via OBD on the GTI V.

well, certain GTi's with the K04 turbo already pushes over 175kw's @FW stock + Revo (app 30kw gain) = over 200kw's .

I agree with you on the piggyback crap. Only a f'kin dumbgat will piggyback his car when you have reputable and professional tuners like Revo,APR & GIAC.

Tomorrow I finally get to do my advanced driving at Kyalami with the GTI!! I did the Audi version at Gerotek which was also cool... Anyone done Kyalami in the a GTI?

Bru there are no GTI's in SA that come with a K04 turbo from the factory, only the S3 and Leon Cupra has K04. There are a few guys (I know of only 1) running with an aftermarket K04.
In the US the edistion 30 has a K04.
