Golf V GTi drivers

Seat Cupra has a K04 turbo in? Didn't know that... Thought it was software that gave it its 177kw.

HEHE, If I wanted my trip to take more than 5 hours... 140 with CC would help. I know 140 on my clock is 125 on GPS.. Anyone noticed that? And yeah the metro's leave u alone... but this is not a solution LOL :D

Contention

Catch21 you seem to be very knowledgable about upgrading Gti software. I am extremely new to this game and in my experience it seems that on occasion upgrades have been known to provide significant power increases.

I would not go so far as to say that my or any other mapped Gti is faster than another. I would however really like to test my car against other Gti's that have been to FRC, REVO, MTM etc to see how each of them compares.

When is the next VW day so we can all get together and compare under reasonably controlled conditions to try and bed this everlasting contention.

Jerking Gear Changes

I too have used Upsolute software and had some initial problems which the guys helped me out with (limp mode) also took it to JMS and ran 149KW Wheels and 345NM Wheels (2005)but my DSG kicks like a mule at times and now I have noticed that i lose boost power in certain gears sometimes... eg 1st .....

Hey G5GTI05 I have not experienced this before myself, I also had some jerking of between gear changes and what ended up happening was my DSG Map was not updated and it was still running on the standard 280NM settings which does not allow the smooth gear changes. Once it is updated it will be smooth.

A work colleague has a Gti '05 and his power was fine until he reached 5000 rpm at which point he lost all power, he would then need to wait for the revs to drop before he could get power again. This has been solved and was due to the Cams on the '05 model with the connector to the fuel pump, I am not entirely sure what the cause or parts are even called but this will need to be replaced.

Not sure if this helps you I am new to assisting in mechanical support, but thought I would give my 2 cents worth.

I am not very knowledgable, but i know from world wide forums and friends who have had experience with software upgrades. FRC is local so only local boys can vouch for FRC, but imo they are very good at what they do. They more into the 'custom' side of performance, thats why you will get more bang for your buck if you use them.

Revo/GIAC & APR are world wide and are quality performance products. The rest are good but not on the level as them.

Visit the VWSA forums and i know they have alot of GTG's , you can do your test runs with them.

then push your car to GPS reading of 140, that will get you to dbn in 4 1/2 hours.

BFGTI... Any advise offered is appreciated. I've been meaning to post an update with regard to the gear and power issue. I took the car back and had them fit an after market DV from XCell performance and they removed their software, updated my original software with the latest version from VW, reinstalled their Software and they upgraded by Gearbox software as well and changed 2 settings (not sure which), now all is sorted it seems, I dont want to jinx it hehe but I haven't had a chance to run the car against any benchmark, but it does feel smoother - however if I must be honest, it does also feel slower (not sure if thats because it pulls straight through now without any power bleed to emphasize the speed) I will try get to JMS to have a run... or wait for a 130 hehe (cant race another GTI cos I don't think there is a stock one in JHB nowadays lol)

Im stock ;)

I believe you...... Just as I believe in that guy with a red suit and white beard.... hehe

Well, i have to admit, most GTI's out there are modded. But there are a select few, like me :o, who decided to keep the car stock... for now that is ;)

i know alot of guys who did not chip their GTi's. spending R6k is alot of money for alot of guys out there. We must realise that 99% of cars on the road are leased.

Lol dont worry, the type of people that drive MK5 Gtis ranges from the die hard entusiasts to some idiots that know zero about cars lol!

Yup... thats true. I think the main reason i decided to stay stock is because the car is still under warranty. Any mod can be found if the car is scrutinized by someone who knows what he is looking for and if found i dont want to lose my warranty :o . A blown engine can set you back close on 100K on these cars . So im just gonna wait for the warranty period to end before i put in any serious mods. And if my engine blows out of warranty... then i'll pay for repairs

No need to worry about the chip Viper. Software wont affect your engine at all. As long as its a reputable company, chances are your car might perform better.

I'd like to think i fall somewhere inbetween :)

What about added strain to engine? and upon something going wrong, the dealer finds out abt the chip and claims that the damage was caused because of the chip, and refuses to fix, heard of some cases as of late :(
these dealers can be really harsh sometimes...
