Golf V GTi drivers

I too have used Upsolute software and had some initial problems which the guys helped me out with (limp mode) also took it to JMS and ran 149KW Wheels and 345NM Wheels (2005)but my DSG kicks like a mule at times and now I have noticed that i lose boost power in certain gears sometimes... eg 1st will be fine, second kicks in and all of a sudden it does not pull.... then when third comes up it pulls perfectly again - Its so bad that I raced a 200STI, Killed him in first, second he literally pulled up next to me and when 3rd came about i dropped him again, thats how pronounced it is....think this could be a dump valve issue? The last test GAIC did for me they reckon the software was asking for 1.2 Bar but only delivering 1... any experts?? Your help will be appreciated

Did you have a dump valve installed? a dump valve is something different from a diverter valve.

Usually when a car is chipped , the first thing to go is the Diverter valve...
This usually is indicated by loss in boost... Usually the diverter valve gets 'torn'.. So you usually need to upgrade your diverter valve to handle the extra boost.. I might be wrong tho, but i think your diverter valve is gone...

Looks like Upsolute mapping is not too friendly if people are having to change valves etc.

I know thousands who have used Revo without any problems, and Revo boasts 29kw gains which is very good. Even GIAC & APR is top notch.

Hi VIPER25, Thanks for the input... I just hope it can be rectified.I went in today, looks like the "stock" DV might be at fault. I am going back tomorrow to have the VAG readings. Apparently they have an additional part they add to the stock DV which helps keep up the boost. Costs around R1600 fitted. But will wait for after the service just incase... Heard of it? I know Frieling offer a DV from Forgemotorsport - Any experiences?

Catch21 I dont think thats a fair comment - I have heard of all suppliers having this problem and its a VW issue on a part which wasn't designed to handle the extra pressure.. but anyway

I think its very fair considering Revo,GIAC & APR to be the best tuning companies in the world. They do not give problems like you think they do.
As i told you, i know 1000's of people (especially USA) to have run Stage3 with no faults.

www.myfastgti.com first thing you pick up is the DV issue on G5's regardless. Its the pressure that causes the problem so regardless of make pressure is pressure and dont tell me that REVO aint pushing bars...

I am not going to argue with you, but i'll stick to my views.

The fact that the DV is splitting is very normal. I heard it's even a common issue with standard 2.0TFSi's.

I'm running on FRC software and my mate has MTM. Our diaphrams of our DV's were splitting every 2 months! Changed them to the 'C' revision ones and our 3rd ones were 'G' revision...

After that one split we had had it and decided to get a Forge DV installed at FRC :D

We both couldn't be any happier and the Forge DV also peeks our boosts, holding it for longer...

While we were at it we installed the Forge Spacer as well, so our cars 'sneeze'.

BTW I'm in a A3 2.0TFsi - same car at the end of that day, so you GTi boyzzz don't mind be posting here, no? Promise you gents could learn a lot from AUDI.. ;) ;)

Revo mapping is too vicious. You try pull off decently and you'll shred your Bridgestones!

Besides, during summer a couple of months ago I remember VAGing a few maps and the REVO map's temperature was the highest reading! I'm not willing to blow my turbo.

I'd only recommend REVO if you are upgrading any other parts...

If any one had to ask me what mapping software I'd recommend, it will definitely be FRC by far and MTM (but I hear they don't offer it anymore through the dealers).

Thats your opinion, and if anyone had to ask me what mapping software i'd recommend, it will definately be Revo by far.

So sure sure man... Post away ;)

Howzit guys! I got my chip done in Uitenhage just before I took delivery (July '06). Anybody got any idea what chip it is?

If you got the car from VW then you got the updated software which does raise the power from 147kw up to around 160kw.

How do you remapped guys compete next to the new S3?

IMHO, I really don't think it's worth 100k more.....

Some GTi's were fitted with the bigger KO4 turbo which produces stock power of +/- 175kw. If this engine is chipped + exhaust, it will be stronger than the stock S3.

The majority of GTi's are fitted with KO3 turbo and if chipped + exhaust, produce power of +/- 190kw. This is not good enough to compare to the S3.

my buddy with his M3 cab raced a stock S3 (so the driver claims) from 120km/h ... damn S3 ate him ... we had a few runs that S3 im shocked ... looks like it will be really close between the 335i and the S3 the way the S3 pulled the ///M .... might even pull me :(

Are you sure? IIRC, the Golf 4 GTI's came with the K03 & K03s.

Yes he is right. Standard 2.0T come with K03's and the S3 comes with a K04.

Many of the normal 2.0T peeps have installed the K04 into their cars - I must say, very quick but that only if you know how to put the power to the ground of course ;)

Heres my understanding, maybe Catch can confirm/dismiss it:p

MK4 110kw - K03
MK4 132kw - K03s smaller ports
PGTi 110kw - K03
MK5 147kw - K03
Mk5 169kw - K03s So many people have confirmed it, so ill join the crowd lol, VW however havent released anything to the press yet.
Seat 177kw - K04
S3 195kw - K04
Oupiel OPC - K04
Mk5 owners can just bolt on the K03s or K04 turbos and remap SW can get 169 or 177kw resp.
PGTi bolt on K03s 140kw+.
