Golf V GTi drivers

Nope, there are (almost) significant differences. The 132Kw engine has VVT and other goodies. Also, the 132Kw GTi & the 2003 1.8T (110Kw) share the same engine and have a KO3s turbo instead of the older K03 turbo.

Show me a car that makes an extra 53Kw with a chip and no other mods.

But from experience, its easier do get more out of a 110kw than the 132kw...

T/F?

Correct. The 154Kw from the Polo GTI's 1.8T engine comes from software, down pipe and water injection. FRC have a Polo GTI they're working on which should push about 165Kw.

Read here. If they change the turbo to the 28RS, power should be about 200Kw

I try not to get THAT involved in car modifying, it just ends up in a waste of money. As long as I have one car faster than a MK5 Gti im fine.

A chip is the furthest ill go modifying the Polo.

you saying a chip is enough on ur Polo to beat a GTI?? Wow that is impressive, I came to a realization that all GTI's are chipped LOL I mean every guy I speak to has chipped there car nowadays.. should be STD hehe

I have a standard GTI... The newer spec engine tho.. BWA... Just learnt, from other international and local forums that BWA engines are pushing out between 165KW - 170 KW Stock standard...

Im hearing this to, is it for real??? Why is it not on the website

Yup. It is for real. Many Forums, including the opel and honda forums, mention this. And i have to say, my car does feel pretty fast, even tho its stock standard.

for those interested. Oone of the many threads that discuss this...

One guy mentioned, in this thread, that a small article was even published in a local magazine, discussing the difference between AA and BWA engines.

Ye saw that thread heard about this "increase" in power but surely VW will advertise atleast in the specs of the car...

I havent seen anything on paper and doubt VW will be allowed to give incorrect specs on the car.
Also it depends on where the reading is taken, if its 147 at the wheels and 166 at the flywheel then the car is still 147kw.

Well i read somewhere that VW dropped the compression ratio, early 2006, from 10.5 to 10.3 possibly to sell the GTI in countries with lower octane fuels i.e 89 and 93 octane, (USA). If everything else stays the same dropping compression will result in lower power, so VW compensated for this by increasing boost.

Why its not marketed by VW, i dont know.... increase in KW = increase in insurance premiums = decrease in sales perhaps? I'm not sure hey....

2007 GTI makes 169Kw ATF!

Think about it, why would VW advertise the GTI with 169Kw when they have the (slow at altitude) R32 with 184Kw of power? It's obvious that they don't want the GTI stealing R32 sales.

Its actually GTI's built since the 2nd quarter of 2006, not just the 2007 models, that has the extra power..

Lol!!! Hahahaha we not school kids lol we dont believe this type of "stories" next you gonna tell us Mxit is closing down.....

Whats the new Torque readings? I bet the same as the 147kw:p
So the PGti with these new turbos are pushing undercover 132kw?

VW cannot lie to customers... whether its a good lie or a bad lie.

jk, I see you're still acting like an idiot

I'm sorry but vw does lie in order to keep the r32 sales up, and you can't challenge them in court because the car is at least making the claimed power figures... in fact it's making better than claimed figures.

The torque for those gti's are rated at around 300 nm @ 2200 rpm - 5200 rpm...

Lets see proof. R32 sales up lol Even VW doesnt expect to sell 100 in the first 6 months. Why lie about the Gti when the S3 is the R32 biggest competitor.....

You guys dont understand anything about sales, you go on the little forums pick up stories and run it till everyone believes you.

LMFAO... and this from the guy that apparently knows cars

It's only the S3's competitor because of 1.) Price range 2.) AWD hatchback as for performance, the R32 is a joke.

Not at the coast....

I was under the impression that the S3 and R32 have the same motor... much like the GTI and the 2.0T... Is this not the case? What r the differences? Besides the R32 looking so much better... Im quite surprised at the comments I have heard of the R32 - Can it be that bad a car??

No, that's why you have the Audi A3 3.2 Quattro.

The S3 is an AWD 2lt Turbo.

S3 - Gti engine, 2.0T 4 cylinder, bigger turbo and others mods. Quattro and 197kw.
R32 - 3.2l V6, 184kw VW 4-motion drive.
