Google aims at Microsoft's heart

Rubicon Consulting principal Michael Mace said in an online posting that it seems Google is making clear that it wants "to bleed Microsoft to death" by giving away equivalents to the software king's products.

That clearly shows a lack of foresight and commenting for the sake of having words on a page that people can argue about without any true understanding of the bigger picture.

"This whole idea of Web delivery applications is something that we think is part and parcel of the way the world is going." Google is "clearly looking for ways to chip away at Microsoft," she added.
now you're starting to get the picture.

aaah, fruk, there you lost it again ...

Well i am not convinced google will do anything to worry microsoft as gaming and most major applications run flawlessly on mac and windows.

If google can somehow get directx on their platform and provide a good platform to allow major program makers to work off then maybe but for the most part google chrome will just attract the same crowd as linux.

Can't blame Google... Microsoft have been trying to kill them for some time.
n a sworn statement made public Friday, Mark Lucovsky, another Microsoft senior engineer who left for Google in November 2004, recounted Ballmer's angry reaction when Lucovsky told Ballmer he was going to work for the search engine company.

"At some point in the conversation, Mr. Ballmer said: 'Just tell me it's not Google,'" Lucovosky said in his statement. Lucovosky replied that he was joining Google.

"At that point, Mr. Ballmer picked up a chair and threw it across the room hitting a table in his office," Lucovosky recounted, adding that Ballmer then launched into a tirade about Google CEO Eric Schmidt. "I'm going to f***ing bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I'm going to f***ing kill Google." Schmidt previously worked for Sun Microsystems and was the CEO of Novell.

google is fighting back!.. little rascal :)

@Aqua_lung sure I don't dispute that MS have had it in for Google etc., but Google are at least focused on what counts: making things better. If your aim is "to take the other guy down" then you have lot the freeking plot and need to take a permanent holiday from this planet because that does not help anyone. Google have their eye set on what counts, and that shows in their product line, MS clearly do not, and it shows too.

Support

If a person can run thier games with this opperating system you will have every gamers support. MS had no respect for there customers as they never perfect thier opperating sofware and have a tendency to invade your privacy and dictate to the customer that they will buy thier new opperating system as they will cease to to update your older systems, dos, windows 3.1, 95, 95 second addition, 98, 98 second addition, win2000, XP, Xp pro, Vista never perfected with all its others but forced down your throat and now Windows 7 and we will stop supporting XP to enforce you now to buy W7 if you like it or not working or not. They are trying to now dictate to the end user. Do lets support those who show support to end MS dictatership. When we by an opperating system we do not want the hassel of telephonicly registering the software or conect to the internet to register or you will not beable to use the software, you have bought this for a fortune which many cannot afford. This is the reason for peaple using coppied win software. Those who get it right good luck to them. :o If you have more than one PC you must have more than one win's well dictatorship again as if they all belong to you and only used buy you why can you not use Your windos on all as they belong bto as does win that you have bought leagaly. Most have a desktop and a laptop for mobilaty so why can you not use one windows for bothe with out extra cost.
They will RIP you off to the maximum they can. MS Tactics!

Some of you are so attached to micro$oft that you think DirectX = gaming

Consider that major dev's like Id software still use OpenGL. Both OpenGL and DirectX are not magic tools for making pretty graphics. They are needed for making software developers lives easier though.

Now look here for the most likely google solution to 3D on their OS: http://code.google.com/apis/o3d/
