Google beta testing passkeys in Android and Chrome as password-replacement

not a bad idea TBH, issue will be implementation,
will I be able to take a dead persons fingerprint and be able to log in to all their accounts?

With Chrome blocking adblockers, they'll have to do more to get me to consider coming back to chrome.

Well you can (sort of) pick your poison, it's a standard that is supported by MS, Apple and Google. It's already part of iOS16 for ex.
To an extent yes. You cannot avoid Android without selling your soul to Apple, but you have alternatives to Chrome and Google search and there are other password managers I will use before trusting Google to care about my security.

Most passkey implementations I have seen are simple digit pins. That is not an improvement. Patterns are as good as a pin which is more easily observed than a hardened password.

Yes, biometrics is also a passkey, but not all devices have your biometrics saved, so it isn't really a solution with mobility. We also need to move to biometrics which requires an ‘heartbeat’ because it isn’t long until your digits are on the chopping block.

At this point in time, I would stick to hardened passwords, but have a password vault locked with my biometrics.

I will be honest. I am not too sure if fingers last for long once person is dead. Maybe if you invest in a decent freezer ?
