Android 15 boasts big security upgrades

Alphabet's Google is bolstering security features in the latest version of Android, the world’s most popular mobile operating system, which it previewed at the company’s annual developer conference.

Android 15 will add capabilities to deter theft and better protect users against fraud, scams and various other attacks that could compromise data on a device, the company said Wednesday at Google I/O in Mountain View, California.

if only you could upgrade versions freely like you could PC's
sadly most people will be stuck with an outdated, but still usable phones.
Buy a Pixel? They're excellent phones that tend to last and get kept up-to-date.

The only Google product Google hasn't ruined. Yet.

Id love to buy a pixel, problem is they decided our 3rd world country isnt worthy of having its own sales and support channel,
so you have to buy a used on off some dodgy guy in a back alley, or pay something exorbitant to get it imported.

same with the fairphone , same with many other things we here in SA can only read about and wonder.

Ah, well. That's unfortunate. Apologies.

Didn't realise things were still that dire :cautious:

South Africa even has Amazon these days!

Really, really?

Time to organize marches in every city, shouting Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

They're not that amazing devices anyway. Even an 2020 iPhone 12 still smokes them lol.

Not sure why you think only the SoC is important?

I don't game on my Pixel 8 pro, so doesn't really matter. Battery life is more than good enough compared, signal is definitely better than the iPhone 14 pro in my experience (multiple times could actually use net in an area while friend with the iPhone couldn't), and for photographs the pixel generally does better (though at 1x / normal lens, I'd argue it's a matter of taste (color science), and if doing Instagram, iPhone is probably preferable for that).

Getting an iPhone vs pixel is more a case of which OS you prefer than what the SoC performance is.

But I also use these phones as daily drivers long after the review period ends, and I'm browsing the same subreddits as you are. I hear the constant complaints surrounding the Pixel experience, especially in the Tensor era. Sluggish performance, overheating, buggy or late software upgrades — it never ends. And yet, for all of Google's problems, some people are lucky enough to dodge and weave past every issue, no matter how widespread. It makes reviewing these phones more frustrating than any other device on the market.
The soc is the most important. Not to mention 5 years down the line how much worse it'll be.

Apple are still faffing around with Ceramic Shield glass instead of Gorilla Glass.

It's alleged that Ceramic Shield glass stands a drop test better BUT can't hack being in your pocket with a bunch of keys!!

I've a few stories of iPhone's being hacked and entire contact lists being replaced. Apple, the Boeing of the cellular world.

And you'll notice the comments disagree, and how android police is basically a click bait site nowadays.

Haven't had an issue with sluggish or overheat.

But we know that isn't accurate

Those also say my iPhone is 5 x faster than my Huawei ... and well, my iPhone is slower?
Unless you meant it smokes it on paper?

Then I'd agree with you . iPhone benchmarks are mental !
