Some of the SAP applications don't work at all with anything other than IE8 (not even IE9 works). That is the main reason most companies are still on IE - too much effort and not enough gain to change.

I used to use FireFox at home, but Chrome is much quicker and now that there is a decent youtube downloader app and firebug for chrome, there is no reason to stick with Firefox.

Seems I spoke too soon. Not working anymore since they revamped the reporting sytem thingy. *oh well*

Eish...spoke to soon again...its working again. Think it just dont like my internet connection.

Norty Norty occie.....

You should be following corporate policy... :p

For? This is my personal Laptop...not a work one. So if I do need to work from home or help peeps on here...tis nice to be able to use the browser of my choice. No IE or Windoze on my personal laptop thank you very much sir. You want me to use IE...then you buy my laptop mmmkay! :-)

Our work PC's are locked down tighter than a republicans bum! Alarms would probably sound if I tried to load Chrome on there! JOKING! hehehe

I've been using Chrome since their earliest releases. Although I don't use and tinker with all the fancy functions it has served me well as my primary browser.

I have 2 main addons loaded, adblock and IETab for those pesky sites I need access to that doesn't play well with a decent browser :D

Google has a winner here and it won't change soon.

I know I am paranoid delux as seen on my privacy post(Do not tract) mentioned above, I just have a problem with all the tracking crap on Chrome. Well that and all the extensions, man I love my extensions in Firefox. So I can live with the extra second it takes to start up.

lol...meneer....I dont think you understand. I cant even change my background on my desktop! lolz

Man thats gotto suck. I cant even handle a default background that comes with any OS for longer that it takes me to download a new one.

hehe. Well...they do have good reason. My PC and everyone else on the network is there to work...not play on the PC's...and when you have so many branches the stricter the policies...the better I guess...I am just glad mybb and gsmarena is open for me to stay up to date with the industry and peeps.

Same here.... but at least I can change my background and screen saver - only from the selection that is provided, of course.... no customisation!

I guess adding the option "I use more than one browser" is too complex for some people who post on this forum.

That would be a meaningless option as it would not specify which those browsers are. To do this, you would need options with combinations, which makes it more complicated than it needs to be.

I'm sure many of us don't use one browser exclusively, but that doesn't stop us from participating in the poll. Is it too complex for you to figure out which one you like best?

Every time we have a poll there is someone complaining about some or other option not being there. Really annoys me. Stop being dikbek ;)

Correct... e.g. what is your primary browser? I also need to use 2 browsers (as per post #41) but will then only use IE on the odd occasion and not by choice!!!!

Microsoft: Chrome Wasn’t More Popular Than Internet Explorer

http://windows7themes.net/microsoft-chrome-wasnt-more-popular-than-internet-explorer.html

Microsoft says that Chrome is not more popular than Chrome and underlines that the Chrome figures are misleading
Microsoft says figures that suggested Chrome was more popular than Internet Explorer were wrong

Yesterday StatCounter reported that Google’s Chrome browser became the most popular browser for a day, overtaking Internet Explorer. Today, Microsoft says those figures are false. Microsoft says that StatCounter’s data is misleading.

On a Windows blog post, Roger Capriotti breaks down how the stats for browsers are actually recorded.

He says the first way is analysing rendered pages (i.e., pages users actually visit) vs pre-rendered pages (what the browser preemptively opens based on users history). Capriotti says that from Chrome version 13, Google’s browser does the latter – opening pages that were “invisible” to users based on their history. However, users don’t click the majority of these pages and as a result the page views are artificial. Capriotti says that Net Applications started to remove the pre-rendered page views, which was 4.3% of page views in February 2012. StatCounter, though, continues to take into account pre-rendered page views.

The second way of tracking browser usage is “geoweighting”. Simply, this is looking at different countries and taking into account the percentage of page views of each country. For example, if browser usage in the UK is 20% and the CIA Internet Traffic shows it as 40% than the amount of unique visitors are doubled. Net Applications says that “if our global data shows that Brazil represents 2%, and the CIA table shows … 4%” then they double figure of unique visitors. Again, StatCounter report the data as they get it. They don’t factor in these statistics.
Countries not featured

Shown off is country data from the two different entities: StatCounter’s doesn’t feature China or Japan in the top five countries – despite China having biggest population in the world – while Net Applications does. The reason for this is that StatCounter only uses “total page views by country.”

The blog also showed the unweighted statistics vs the weighted statistics, and to quote: “Internet Explorer is under-reported by 9% when real, actual internet populations are not considered.”

The final point made by the blog post is that StatCounter only reports page hits, and doesn’t consider unique visitors. The result is StatCounter’s method of page hits can be misleading, and causes inflation on figures.

If any of this is true, then those are some serious problems with the stats!
