Google Keep note-taking app unveiled

Sometimes I don't follow Google, why Keep? Why not Note, or Post-it or reminder or something that describes its function.

Its a play on the words....Keep Google :D or something like that.

This is interesting to see how many users from competing solutions change over. I will be sure to give this a test though :).

The name Keep works for me and makes sense. It's the info I want to Keep. There are too many other products called Note-this-or-the-other.

You would think that given Google's recent actions people would be wary to commit to using a product from them that doesn't add to their bottom line.

The term "Post-it" and the canary yellow color are registered trademarks of 3M. "Sticky Note", likewise, is a trademark of Société Bic. Accepted[by whom?] generic terms for competitors include "repositionable notes" and "repositional notes". To take advantage of the success of the brand, 3M manufactures other products related to the Post-it concept.

Never use someone else's trademarks. The law is quite extensive on this.

After Google announced their dumping of the Google Reader: +10

About time! A smartphone OS without a native Notes app is terrible. Been wanting something like this for ages. Keep having to switch apps as I change phones and upgrade OS's. (Evernote's great, but not for basic notes. prefer it web clippings and stuff).
Now to see if this'll be able to replace Simplenote.

With Google deciding to can Reader and iGoogle, (and remember Wave) is it worth being an early adopter?

Last time I checked my Evernote was also free. So you now have one more free option. What is wrong with that? Or should others not do something because someone else did it first ... like rounded corners?

Evernote has a paid and premium version. Or you think they also make money by ads?

It doesn't actually take audio notes. It takes a snippet's worth of 2 seconds and tries to process it. How ridiculous...

I don't care how they make their money fact is I do get a fully functional no expiry date version of Evernote for free. Each company must find their own ways of making money. Google uses ads. Evernote sells a Premium version. So what is Google doing evil here Cerebus?

It isn't evil exactly, just googles googley way of doing business. I find it distasteful particularly in the light of the reader shutdown but it is what it is.

Am I just being stupid or is this a bizarrely stupid function of Keep? Using it on my S3...
