Google Nexus 5

Over and above the Nexus 5, what would you consider necessary on the next device? I'd wager that the 5 is pretty complete as it is, at least from a hardware standpoint. The software is catching up in leaps and bounds, too.

In terms of hardware a stronger camera and battery, mainly. I reckon it's snappy enough, so no real performance complaints. The software will be a continuous process of updating anyway, so not really much amiss there.

I would actually like to see an infra red sensor. It is so convenient to use my S5 if the remote is on the other room. And it is fun to piss of other people when their air conditioners suddenly "acts up" :D

The camera hardware is actually rather good, in totality. The software just needs to catch up, as Google are only now starting to develop the sort of APIs that Samsung have had for years.

A bigger battery would be better, yes. Something akin to the G2 or G3. But FWIW, I've never felt that it needs anything bigger.

Well, with Google TV, you can use any Android device as a remote :) but it is a convenient feature to have.

It's comparatively a bit weak, though. You can only improve a camera so much with software before it's the actual camera itself that needs upgrading.

I think battery life is one of those things I'd always like more of. :p

A few places, notably Anandtech, actually felt that the hardware was more than adequate.

Same here, but coming from the Nexus 4 (which had horrific battery life) I am more than happy with the battery life on the 5.

Yeah, I don't doubt that, or disagree. I want(ed) one, after all. But tech's always improving, so if they can find a balance between reasonable pricing and even more adequate hardware (:p) for the new one then I'd be quite satisfied.

So I joined the N5 club on Tuesday. Rooted the puppy, load Art and Francisco, transferred some app data via Titanium Backup and... it works, whooo. Coming from a One S, I *wish* I could've afforded an M8, but the Nexus does nicely. :)

Welcome to the club, I doubt you will be unhappy. Was a phone junkie before this came out changing phones to keep up to date but this has been my solid device for awhile now! Love it!

Does anyone have a wireless charger for their N5? If so, which one and where did you get it from?

I got a cheapie one from Ali express. Would be nice to get the original though because alignment can be a pain without the magnets.

Mine is arriving today, time to retire my N4 and give it to the missus. Time to get her out of the samsung's claws
