So the device cost you less than R5k to purchase and ship? That's impressive. Who was your mail forwarder?

Yes I am, but I have not had time yet.
Too much time playing with the S5![]()

A mate in Ohio, although a site like MyUS would have cost about the same.
Hi All,
I am having an issue with N5. Now i dont know if this is hardware or network related. But i need some help to determine whats the issue. I am using a stock N5. Not rooted no other rom flashed. I am on a Cell C chatmore contract.
I regularly loose data connectivity on the N5. I can put the phone into aeroplane mode and back to normal and still get no data connectivity. I need to reboot the phone to resume data connectivity. I will have a connection for a while (maybe a couple hours) and then back to having no data connectivity.
I have manually selected the network, this worked for 5 mins, and i saw the phone bouncing between H+ and 3G and then back to nothing.
Any advice on how to check the hardware, or anything else i should do to trouble shoot.
Any help will be appreciated.
Okay, my colleague at work offered to let me test using his sim card.
Issue persisted, so i guess its a hardware fault
So short of shipping it back to the UK for repairs, any ideas for getting is fixed locally?

Are you on the latest firmware?

I used Cell C with my N5, and constantly had issues. One of the remedies that worked for me was to ensure that the preferred network type was set to 3G only. Not even 3G/2G.
Try that out and see if it helps. This was on the stock ROM, too.
Tried that put it to 3G last night. Still had the issues this morning![]()
Last resort might be to flash a different radio. You say that this happens regardless of the network in use?
I used my colleagues sim card in my phone - and had the same issue, he hasn't had this problem on his SG4 Mini. His sim was also a Cell C sim. So I actually haven't tried on a different network.
I need to get an MTN/Vodacom sim - will have to get that tomorrow because of Rica.
I'm willing to bet that the issue is Cell C. I don't think that it plays well with the N5 radio.
When I had my N5() I had no signal in certain parts of the office, at all. I'm using a loan device at present, and I now have perfect 3G signal in areas that I didn't even have basic cell connectivity.
