And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It does, but luckily, up and till now, Google's projects do just work (most of them)
Gmail, to my mind is the perfect example of something that just works. It's weird how, after what seems like 5 years or more, it's still in beta.
Chrome on the other hand hasn't been perfect. I work for a software development company and projects that worked fine in IE, FF, Opera and even Safari did not work out of the box with Chrome. It's simplicity is overshadowed by it's incompatibility with existing web applications.
EDIT : And Gmail's SPAM filter is a thing of beauty!

If it can run win32 binaries natively it will be a winner
