Google phone on its way

T-Mobile is to launch the first phone based on Google's Android design on September 17, in hopes that the new device will compete with Apple's iPhone, Wired magazine reported Friday.

This is the reason causing Nokia to buy SymbianOS and making it open-source (in the pipeline). Put a cellphone and Linux together and what do you get? Something better than Symbian and WindowsMobile...

My Motorola Z6 has a Linux based OS but it is not a smart phone.

Google has the Midas touch, and I'm sure any minor issues will be ironed out soon enough.

I've also seen an ad on tv for the Samsung "iPhone" (forgot the series name). Probably more manufacturers have similar designs in the pipeline.

The z6 is not "smart" because Motorola has crippled Linux. It has the ability to do a hell of a lot, but they are only enabling many of the technologies inherent in Motomagx as the new phones are released.
Pity, coz after modding the phone and loading various altered version of the OS, I found that it has a long list of hidden features that would bring it very close to the "Smart Phone" arena.
