Google launches Facebook rival

Internet search giant Google launched its rival to Facebook on Tuesday, a new social networking service called Google+.

Would like to see how it is for myself.

Can't say I'd mind forgoing teh ebilz Facebook, plus, I already use Google for everything else (Calendar, iGoogle homepage, Gmail, search engine, documents, YouTube, etc) so it would be a natural progression of affairs

Yeah, very intrigued by this concept as well....

Hopefully they can keep the BS out of this unlike Facebook.. yes the games keep drawing people in, but make it less in your face etc and I'm sold.

+1 wave was just wayy too much complication wayy too fast. facebook evolved from a much simpler, yet well demanded functionality

Buzz is more a Twitter kind of thing... I occasionally use it... sort of... Rather I should say that it uses itself when I post on Twitter

Actually Google already had a much older social media platform that predates Myspace, facebook, and all those other new attempts.

It's called orkut.

Um, even if you had an invite you cannot log onto the site as it is already beyond capacity.
It clearly states that on the front page.

Google+ is in limited Field Trial
Right now, we're testing with a small number of people, but it won't be long before the Google+ project is ready for everyone. Leave us your email address and we'll make sure you're the first to know when we're ready to invite more people.
