Google's Chrome tablet

HTC and Google in apparent alliance to launch Chrome-based tablet later this year

Edit: I'd just like to point out that the image attached to the article is a render, and not an actual HTC/Google Chrome OS tablet.

Would you guys buy a tablet that can only run web applications?

Aren't you contradicting yourself by saying I'm in and then also probably not?

It's look like an Apple Product - I'm not surprised.......

I'd rather take one that can run windows, not just web apps

The thing is this new breed of tablets can't be seen as computers, they are appliances designed to be a lot more simpler and portable.

I'm definitely very interested, but I've lots of questions that still need answering. From what I understand, Chrome OS will be purely Web based, and won't access the device hard drive at all. This means that viewing photos or video, or listening to music, all has to be streamed from the cloud. This might be fine in countries with free Wi-Fi all over the place, and uncapped 3G contracts at reasonable prices, but in SA there would be severe limitations to your mobility. By contrast, an Android tablet will be able to access local storage, which would be much more practical.
