I did have sluggish browsing (sluggish might be an understatement), but it was latency related. Doing a standard once off traceroute would often show a lowish ping, but if you did mulitple consecutive traceroutes and take the high/low/average, it was a different story.Anyone else experiencing sluggish/slow connections in and around Gordons Bay?
Latency seems fine most of the time. Browsing is sluggish, speed tests slow.
I have tried multiple ISP's and get the same results.
Gordon's Bay ADSL problems
Been experiencing extreme latency, especially in the evenings.
Morning line good, 10ms latency / download 3.6 Mbps
From 6pm steadily degrading. Latency 300ms+ and download max .5 Mbps
Phone number area (021 856)
ADSL line speed 4Mbps
ISP's capped Telkom + Afrihost + WebAfrica (all ISP accounts give similar problems, also tried Telkom guest account)
Line starts seriously degrading from 4pm. 8pm almost unusable until midnight when latency starts to improve again.

Where in GB are you? If close enough, log a fault, get a techie out and ask them to move your port to the IMAX dslam.
Thanks! I'm in Mountainside. I will do just that. I think the attenuation is good.
Interestingly yesterday after one person raised the same experience on the Gordon's Bay FB page there was literally an avalanche of responses from people experiencing the exact same issues. The GBay exchange obviously in need of a major upgrade!
So I would hazard a guess DSL congestion is still rife in Gordons bay?
I'm trying to help my dear mother in Gordons Bay so had her upgraded to a 4 bps uncapped deal at telkom (after which we've taken 2 months and MULTIPLE telkom tickets to get the line stable again (i.e. not losinng sync every 10 minutes).
However now with a perfect 4 Mbps sync and amazing line attenuation, she is struggling to get more than 500kbps out of the line (with the same crazy latency mentioned earlier in this post), especially in the afternoon/evenings.
Can't believe this has been an issue in the area since 2014? Anything to be done?
Thanks yeah, that was posted in 2013, hence asking if this is still an issue? Is SuperCharl even around to take a look?
