Hi
Does anyone know anything about the Spot Wireless Camera from MTN, I am looking for something like that but a Vodacom product.
The cam is portable and can be fitted anywhere with a data enabled sim card, you are able to view either photos or videos taken by the cam from a GPRS handset by dialing into what i guess is a server.

There are a few of these products available.

I've got the Nokia unit here with me, can't remember the model number.

You place the unit (about the size of a pack 20), stick a sim in it and configure it.

By sending a SMS to it, it will respond with a MMS of what the camera sees. This specific model does photos and video clips (as well as audio streaming) but there are other units that also give video streaming.

No server needed, you dial directly into the camera.

What's the intended application?

I'd want it as a gimmick ;) Where and how much? :P

MTN one's about R200/month on contract, not sure if Voda offers it on contract.

Nokia PT-6 Remote Cam
Also has timed images/video, Motion detection images/video. Infrared for night images/video. Allows you to send image/video to another phone on request from yr phone. If you have a symbian phone, you get an application that runs on the phone that can configure/send commands to the camera.

No contract, uses any SIM - I got a messenger contract for mine. - price outright around R3000.00. You will need to find someone to order it for you. Nokia at Vodaworld never have stock of anything.

WiVi Systems Farsite camera

I think the Nokia PT-6 Remote Cam is out of production. I have recently found a GPRS camera which can be used outdoors, live streaming, snapshots, etc... may be of interest.
