Grand Theft Auto 6

GTA phsyics is clunky and buggy, hitting a random object at 5km can send you flying 50 meters in the air.
Never experienced anything like that tbh. And physics are the complete opposite of clunky.

The object weight physics is carp. The physics is shyte to be honest, you might be referring to driving mechanics, which is okay.

That said the physics and mechanics is suited to the game play. I don't even consider it being in the top 10 let alone the best of any game.....
Nope, the physics is amazing. Especially in GTAIV. Obviously not talking about other types of racing or driving simulator games etc.

Of all these types of games, GTA the best when it comes to this. Driving in Watch Dogs? Crap. Sleeping Dogs? Crap. LA Noire? OK. Original Mafia? Great. Cyberpunk? Great. GTAV? Great. GTAIV? The best. :)

GTAIV imo has overall the best driving physics of any game I've played. Never understood why people hate it so much. It's awesome.

GTAV's driving felt disappointing in comparison. More arcadey but I still really like it. Driving full speed on highways were better and felt more realistic than IV but city driving or cruising is far better in IV.

Cyberpunk has a nice mix of both IV and V's style of physics depending on what car you drive.

Hope driving in VI will be a bit less arcadey.

Which hardware? I found it really good on PS but really bad on PC. I need to still try a gamepad on PC and see if that makes it better.

Have you ever driven a car?

Because it’s very clunky and the weight is all wrong.

But yes those games are all crap and worse…doesn’t make GTA good.

PC. Never had issues with driving.

Driving with a digital on/off switch will always be terrible, no question about that.

Just imagine your steering wheel in your car wasn't analog and always went full left or full right when you touched it.

Some games do a pretty good job of tapping that on of switch GTAV doesn't seem like one of them.
I don't quite get the newer GTA's on PC do people play with gamepads or is the driving just seen as getting from a to b?

Keyboard driving is possible if the steering sensitivity is appropriate and traction control is there.

I played the F1 games on keyboard and even Project Cars for quite a few years before moving to controller, and the laptimes were not too shabby.

The key is to modulate it through tapping, like 4 times a second in some tight corners needing precision.

Its been so long since I played the other GTA games I can't really comment on them, but GTAV the hitboxes sometimes feel like there's some RNG to them, the best way I'd describe all controls of the game is loose, with the hand-to-hand combat being the worst culprit of it.

Oh I don’t mean to say it’s impossible, just very unnecessary when analog options exist.

Takes me back to my NFS2 days, all on keyboard with lockout when you have two players.

Looks like 99% cutscenes and 1% gameplay. might as well call it a movie. I’ll happily wait for the PC release. No thanks to the upscaled 4K, 30fps console slideshow :D

Well that's your opinion. :)

I think it's great.
@SauRoNZA
Not really his opinion more an observation. He isn't wrong, physics in GTA is meant to be loose and forgiving. To be honest I am looking at it from a developer perspective been active in game development for 25 years so you learn a thing or two about physics and designing games around limitations of physics and collision with interactive gameplay.

GTA physics is pretty loose all round and that isn't just GTA 5 all GTA games have a pretty loose definition of physics, and that includes bullet physics in GTA. The only aspect of GTA 5 that gets a passing grade is the ragdoll physics engine it uses Euphoria physics engine is probably the only aspect of the entire games physics that is actually realistic.

As I said vehicle physics isn't intended to be to be realistic, having F1 physics in GTA would make the game less fun.

However you said it has the best physics of ANY game you played and that simply isn't true not in the slightness, it is the best physics for that type of gameplay but is nowhere near the best for an open world game.

Goat simulator, snow runner, crysis, red faction, just cause 4, just offhand open world games with better physics overall.

Not to dunk on GTA the driving physics is shyte, it has been tweaked for console and gameplay. It is clunky and the weight physics for vechiles is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off........

Excuse me sir? Yes it is! For me. For you, it's not. We're all different, we all have different opinions. You don't know what I've played or not.

I haven't played any of those except for Crysis. Driving in GTAIV is better. Again, my opinion.

Many people regard IV's driving physics as the best, many don't.

No it isn't an opinion it is FACT....... Half-life 2 has better physics, rocket league has better physics that IS FACT not an opinion.
Even gary's mod has better physics than GTA 5. Portal comes to mind.....

hell here is a list of some of the havok physics based games, it is considered the best and most widely used physic engine period.
GTA used it own in house physics based on their RAGE engine.

Half-life 2
Helldivers 2
Halo 3
Bioshock
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Marvel's Spider-Man
Death Stranding
Elden Ring
Gears of War
Age of Empires
The Legend of Zelda
Fallout: New Vegas
The Elder Scrolls Series

These are some of the best games based on havok physics and absolutely kicks GTA physics in the teeth period, it is just the better physics engine. For one it is a dedicated engine that focus on physics and physics alone. Two If you pit havok against RAGE engine physics 9 out of 10 times it will win.

It isn't about opinions it is about facts and havok and the games that use it, have sificantly better physics. Hell even red dead redemption 2 which is the same engine as GTA 5 has better physics....

FK me....

/exit left.

My liewe mens, FOR ME it's the best. ME, not you. Stop arguing with MY personal preferences. Holy crap lol.

Nowhere did I say it's the most realistic. It's just the best.

Me: "I think GTAIV has the best driving physics"

You: "No, you're wrong! Portal, Age of Empires, Legend of Zelda, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls!!!!!!!":ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
