Graphic Designer + Basic web skills - Salary?

Hi,

We are looking to hire a full time graphics + web guy to do the following:

1) Take product images and make them look attractive
2) Design certain boxes/logos for certain products
3) Upload products/descriptions to our web site.
4) Produce product catalogues of products
5) Other general graphic activities such as business cards, letterheads, logo etc

The above involves simple stuff, however, I'd like someone who is creative and can make stuff that is not just "run-of the mill".

What kind of salary do you suggest offering for the above requirements, and where do you suggest we look?

I would agree with AstroTurf. Check out Design Center's graduates. I know those guys are desperate for work. And some of them are damn talented.

The upper cost would be up to 40k, highly depends on years experience as well. Just make sure when you interview to ask the graphics designer if they can cut-up their work into HTML. Most graphics designers do magazine layout type stuff and never bothered to learn how to cutup for the web

not with only basic web skills.

LOL Saffa - 4K? I pay my domestic worker more than that!
That being said, if you don't pay more than average, you won't get your better than average designer!
