Graphics Card Advice

I guess we just have different standards then, or play different games. My brother was looking for a reasonably priced card a few months ago and bought a sealed Gigabyte GTX 760 for R2.5k on Carbonite. Now that's good value.

Ja dude if it's below your standards it doesn't mean the card is crap.

@OP have you considered buying it second hand? There are plenty of good deals on carbonite, many times with warranties still intact.

Yup. That's an excellent card.
They mostly cost around the R3k mark though.
If he can stretch that high it's a very good option.

Looks like a nice card, but I really would prefer to buy new for the 3 year warranty. Basically I want a 3 year card...

Just so you know gpu's are quite reliable and don't break easily.

I don't think anything in the R1800 range will be good for 3 years imo.
But for that type of money the 750ti is the best bet.

+1 the *50 range of geforce cards have always been the gateway for performance gaming.

PC controllers? Logitech F710?

For PC controllers only ever look at the Xbox360 controller. It's the default controller supported by all games. I prefer the wired one as it's cheaper and no batteries to worry about.

Gigabyte R9 270 for R2600 from Takealot will give you PS4 quality gaming. Your system will need 8gb or RAM and 64bit Windows to take the most advantage of the card.

The 750ti is a great card for low power systems, but yours has the grunt for real high-end gaming to challenge the latest consoles if coupled with the R9 270/x.

I don't completely agree with that,

A top tier card will last you a lot longer. The 6950 was released in 2011 and still runs at around the same speed as the 750ti.

This effectively means the 6950 would last 6 years vs the 750ti's 3 years

GTX 750TI $149

Theoretically you would save 50$ buying high end.

Mantle support and double the memory bandwith of the 750ti goes a long way.

The 750ti would be a great buy if it were R1500-1800 but even at R1800 the R7 260x is marginally faster.

I would say get the r9-270x at wootware. Get the powercolor one as it''s good and overclock it a bit.
