Graphics Card HDTV Out

Hi guys , I currently have a 8800 GT , and its got hdtv out via component, I'd like to know if its possible to connect it to a standard tv with component inputs, will that work ?

So you're saying your 8800GT has Component Video out, and your TV has Component Video in? That will definitely work.
 
Normal RCA cables will work (they're just co-ax with RCA connectors).
 
I used old thin speaker wires for a distance of 30 meters and it worked 100%, crystal clear.
I just cut the original "component/rca" yellow cable and soldered the 2 cables to speaker cables and ran the speaker cables to the lounge, and then used my EEEPC to control my PC via WIFi.

As i understand when outputting the signal it will be transferred in HD (720p/1080p) right ? say your tv(standard def) has component in (480p) , will the tv automatically down convert the signal ?

You will have to set what resolution you want it to output
