Slough.. Isn't that where The Office (uk series) was located? It looked rather depressing in the series, which i guess was part of the point of the series heh.

Slough has some really nice attractions...

The A355 north and south, London Road east and Bath Road west :p

Only thing that draws people to the area is Windsor to the south - with the castle and Legoland

Of course, Heathrow is a stone's throw away, too. If hundreds of planes taking off and landing is your thing.

Unlike Sa, health insurance co's in the US aren't obligated to take you on and they are allowed to load your premiums if you have pre-existing conditions, like load your premiums to $10k a month or more. In Sa there's no loading apart from late starters, that is very a significant difference.

Actually this is not off topic at all. The thread title says it all. I found the weed in the UK to be of a GM altered type, with all sorts of crap added in.

And when you have to buy 1/8 of an ounce at a time.....that's just wrong. What's the going rate at the moment? £35?
 
Foch knows, it's never been of interest (have never seen the need to smoke any vegetation), though there is a daily ferry from Amsterdam that docks down at the port, it's probably premium Dutch blend on sale around my way...

uhm...not quite. They simply exclude pre-existing conditions and/or add waiting periods - which is even worse than loading because it leaves you with the risk (while still paying normal premiums).

On this front it helps if its a corporate medical aid. e.g. My first employer had an agreement that the medical aid would accept all & cover all new employees from day 1 blindly. i.e. The med aid didn't even know the names of the people they agreed to cover let alone what kind of diseases they might have.

Other thing I noticed is that the med aid is a lot more competitive in countries that have national healthcare anyway (duh). e.g. My current cover costs about the same as a low end SA one (2k?) but its world-wide coverage & pretty much everything is unlimited. Don't think you can even get that kind of cover in SA.

As far as I can tell, you are wrong - the US has the same restrictions (except that it doesn't penalize you for starting late).
