I have had Afrihost MiFi for the past month or two and have been getting great signal and good speed. For the last day or two however, my signal had been erratic and close to non-existent.
Nothing has changed, my modem is in the same place it has always been.

I emailed Afrihost "Support" and got this reply..

"Hi Barry,

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the signal that you are receiving, however we can suggest that you keep the device in a stable position in the house and attempt to find a good location in the house where signal is good to excellent.

should you have any further queries do not hesitate to contact.

Pure Internet Joy!"

If this is "support" then I guess I'll have to go elsewhere :(

Why don't you call them rather than emailing them? Nothing worse than trying to provide technical support over email - too much back and forth.

There's been some problems on the MTN network the past few days where a group of MSISDNs have been receiving little to no data coverage. Apparently they are aware of this and are working on a solution (this is according to the response one of my colleagues received from Afrihost/MTN).

Tried calling them. Also tried "Live Support" but, no one was available (although indicated otherwise).
I agree email support can be a pain, but to say, we cant do anything about your problem is just not acceptable.

I would have totally accepted an answer like this from Afrihost.. :) Thanks for the info.

The consequence of using a middleman for your Mobile Data needs..

Not sure if trolling or just stupid...

Afrihost has the lowest mobile data rates in SA at the moment.

Be it as it may, you might be benefiting from the lower prices, but I think getting support from a network perspective will be not as great as compared to being a direct customer i.e. Not from a Virtual Mobile Operator

I experienced the same thing from Virgin Mobile, billing support was fine, but network/performance support was dismal.

I expect help from the middle man. That's what they are there for...
I have just installed an ADSL line which I was going to have Afrihost look after but now...

Yes, ifs its not worth a call its not worth dealing a question like that, Google would help you more. Remember they are a reseller not the provider so doubt they can do or say anything about MTN's network

Just needed them to look into it and not tell me that it's my problem and they can't do anything about it.
Anyway, I'm over this now.. but on a side note, I just tried to cancel my package and got an error. Just not my day :)

I have never bothered to communicate with them cause I know for a fact the signal in my house is weak, 1-2 bars I am able to achieve 10 meg - 15 meg download speed. I am happy.

@OldGoat try contact a service provider and you won't get any glory with them at all and won't be able to assist you. They will just tellyou to spend R1000 - R2000 on equipment to strengthen your signal.

It's behind the control. If you unhappy with the service unsubscribe and part with your money with someone else.
