Green light in jozi sky

Was on way home from braai about 20 minutes ago, saw a green "meteor" like flash across the sky, anyone else see this?

WTF?
 
Meteor?

Anyone else just see the whole sky light up? The whole sky just turned bright white like it as daylight!
 
Nope. Still dark. Maybe you bumped you head or it's Jack Daniels calling.
 
My brother saw the whole sky light up for about 5 seconds as brightly as a thunderstrike, with no sound, whilst he was on the phone with a friend in Vryburg (600 km away) who saw the same event at the same time whilst they were talking. My brother seemed very shocked and in awe at what it could be.

Perhaps it was a meteor shower or some incredible supernova or a planet that exploded.
 
sure it wasnt a spotlight shining accross the horizon? some places often do that and they're pretty bright.
 
He saw it at approximately 23:02 and he really looked freaked out, but he heard absolutely nothing so I don't think it was a meteorite and for the same light to be seen across 600 km I guess it must have been a solar event of sorts.

Seriously though, a spotlight does not move like that across the sky and light up like that

we definitely saw it, was green though, driving near northgate in joz, saw the "meteor" move across the sky, hada friend in bloem see the sky light up....

I have my crowbar at the ready
 
checked my phone, was def 10:52 when we saw it in jozi fourways
 
My bad, the Utah meteor was seen last Wednesday, and my bro just took a guess at the time he saw it when he was driving, so 10:52 it is.
 
The Utah meteor crashed and burned it seems, so ours must have been a different one perhaps of the same batch.
 
Seen the 'meteor' also. It was about 11:02. Turned skies green and then pale yellow. It actually looked like a 'firework'. Saw this in Kyalami
 
i saw a light flash the sky about 8 pm, at first i thought i was imagining it but my friend also saw it so i was like wtf. Continued walking home joking about the light flashes saying, maybe its people getting abducted by aliens we just concluded it was a spot light from the boardwalk. When i walked in the house i looked out the sky was lit it looked like how it normally looks at 5.00AM didn't think nothing, of it switched the TV tuned to e and watched Leon. At 11 pm a friend in Mafikeng told me about what he saw and i was like dammmm! you saw it too i thought it was a spot light can`t find nothing on it on the net.
 
check current affairs, seems like meteor shower.... cant believe i saw it!!!
