Green light in jozi sky

i saw it in benoni, it looked as if it the source of the light was not very far away. i find it incredible that so many have seen it from such a distance... is it really possible that it's the leonid meteor shower? i initially thought it looked exactly like the afterglow from a nuclear bomb....but the way i saw it the light source seemed to emanate from earth and not the sky... please guys let's find out what it was!

702 are reporting that it was a meteor.
 
was at a 21st last night and everyone was chilling and suddenly the entire sky just flashed this crazy white/yellow colour for 2-3 seconds. whoever was talking , no matter how interesting or pointless, just stopped and everyone was like WOW .wtf was that!!!!

awesome that i see here it was some meteor or whatever.... i hope someone can find out more info! insane

"WTF is Jozi?" You just answered the question you asked by saying it is Johannesburg. I hate it when people only criticize the way everyone speaks and have nothing to actually add to a topic.

There are too many grammar police here on the forums and it sometimes seems their only goal is to pick out other posters errors, instead of comment on the topic. There are bigger real life problems than sitting on the internet looking for spelling/grammar errors in other peoples posts.

Sky lit up like day at 11pm on 21 Nov 09!

Hi guys!

It's so good to see that people saw this too. I was in Lonehill sitting outside with some friends at around 11pm when my buddy noticed flashes in the distance. After he pointed we looked up and thats when the sky lit up like day for a second or two. The sky actually went BLUE!

Glad to see I'm not crazy and other ppl saw this too!
 
I Only saw the after effects here in pta late last night. anyone witnessed anything here in pta?

This has got nothing to do with spelling or grammar. I never criticized spelling or grammar. Seems like you've got other issues you need to deal with.

Johannesburg and Pretoria residents have come forward, claiming they spotted a meteor in the skies on Saturday night.

People in Gauteng saw the bright light at around 11pm on Saturday night, heading towards the north of Pretoria.

“We saw this big green ball of fire. it kind of came out of the sky, out of the blue,” one resident said.

“There was sudden flash. Like an orange stripe in the sky, followed by a very bright explosion where the sky lit up as if it was daytime,” another explained.

Astronomers and scientists are still trying to find out where the meteor landed.

Ronnie McKenzie collects meteorites and said something like this is very rare.

“I would say it probably happens around two or three times a year around the world,” he said.

I was making a comparison regarding you criticizing the OP's choice of words and the fact you use freedom of expression as well

My final paragraph regarding grammar police was directed at these forums in general where people just jump in a topic and ONLY make a critical post.

It's the same with your fanboy Nokkie who only posts "+1" to everything you say. It doesnt contribute.

Now have either of you contributed to the topic? No, and obviousy I am criticizing you in return. How on earth can I point out you are not contributing to the topic WITHOUT it being called criticism.

If you think I had nothing to say on this subject then please look at what I posted earlier in the same subject in Current Affairs.

A green ball of fire like an orange streak that came out of the blue that turned the sky white / green / pale yellow / bluish white.....
