Greencom

We are busy assessing take up in Northwold. Please register interest on our website. The more we have, the earlier we get there.

In terms of Kyalami Manor this is in the planning stages and on the horizon for early this year.

For the SIP phone we have several clients using different options. Will let you hear from some of them on their experiences. Reliability not an issue.

We are starting the year at a gallop. Sunninghill is on the way to full coverage and we are starting Lonehill, Rivonia, Paulshof, Kengies, Broadacres and Fourways in the next few months. Rivonia is ready to roll.

Thanks, Will await some feedback from Greencom users on Ip phones.

We use an IP phone on their network at work. Never had an issue with it except for setup which was the fault of the phone not Greencom. We haven't done anything special - its just a normal run of the mill Gigaset wireless handset

Fibre to Aruba on Tana Road

What are the alternative options if the complex does not have the required uptake. I am in Aruba on Tana Road, Sunninghill. Is there any other option which does not involve the rest of the complex/body corp? I have already tried to get my neighbors to sign up....

I am on the same boat. Body corporate meeting is months away where the owners will be present.
The owners were sent an email asking about their interest and I think they did not understand.
Asked whether or not they are intersted in the rollout, one owner replied NO.

The reason: she thought it was the body corporate spending complex funds on the fiber infrastructure.

So lessons learned, there are misconceptions about what fiber is and what you can do with it.

Surely Greencom can help with a Rep. to roam AGMs of the complexes to help sell the product for skeptic owners such as my neighbours?
In the meantime I am wondering about lobbying tips prior to the AGM

Any feedback on Fairways, Barbeque Downs? The fibre is laid outside my doorstep......

The good news is we are still looking at Aruba for rollout. The Body Corporate will have to approve the plans once they are completed. qDot, PM me your contact details and I will be able to tell you the progress on your complex. All complexes have someone attached from our side who is working on getting support so you will be able to work with them.
The main issue with low uptake is that complexes with high uptake get preference. However, we are committed to putting the entire suburb on Sunninghill on fibre so will get to every complex eventually regardless of orders. We find that once installation starts the level of interest goes up exponentially.

I have to say that in my dealings with greencom have been disappointing to say the least. My initial few attempts to communicate with them were completely ignored and once they finally did engage I was made to feel like they were doing me a favour buy engaging with me. Very disappointing. I then engaged firestream who I was told also provide services over the same fibre in sunninghill. They responded immediately and got me up an running within 24 hrs. They even came about at 8pm to do the router installation. They really bent over backwards for me and I must commend their client centricity. Greencom can really learn a lot from them. Post-installation I am have been equally impressed with the performance of the firestream network which is ridiculously fast and consistent. Personally I would never ever reconsider greencom who also more expensive than firestream. Its a real no brainer folks, firestream murders greencom on both customer service and pricing.

+1 still waiting

@sven_sungler. How have you been experiencing their speeds? Want to maybe go with them.....

Firstly it's not Firestreams network, or Greencoms. It belongs to Metro Fibre Networks. As for the pricing I would hardly use the word "murder" but it is a little better. I also had a few issues with Greencom and communication but when you see the Directors on site trying to sort stuff out it says a lot. I now have an excellent relationship with them. I use their Internet which has been extremely stable, constantly fast and they debit my account. I don't need to contact them and they don't need to contact me. I would recommend them to everyone.

Agreed.

hey d3x, i received an email from firestream saying that they have reduced their pricing on 50mb [R1100] and 100mb [R1500] fibres. I still cant afford these but these bandwidths are way cheaper than greencom.

Wow, that seems unsustainable to me but I won't dis it until someone tries it. I seem to be having an issue at Savuti Sands tonight with my Internet. It's been hassle free for the past few months.

Shimbali Sands, on and off for the past day or so ... usually pretty good speeds and uptime

Currently I can't access most of the web. All google sites down, speedtest.net, netflix, yahoo, twitch, twitter etc. Showmax gives me a varnish cache error.
Local sites seem to work (mybb, banks etc). The support call center is unaware of a problem and I have now been waiting 25 minutes for someone to call me back.
What is going on?

Apparently there is a problem with Seacom and there are engineers working on the issue. Has anyone else heard of this? Wouldn't a lot more people be affected
