Grocery Specials Thread

This post is purely of interest and please don't attack me for posting.

Here in Portugal I pay:
R31 per kilo for most pork cuts. Loin chops or leg chops with no bones and all fat removed. Portuguese hate fat.
R80 per kilo for fresh salmon, halibut, Nile perch, hake, Pollock and sea bass.
R4 per kilo for potatoes, carrots and the like.
R14 per kilo for tomatoes.
R4.50 for a tin of pitted olives, frankfurters in brine, tuna and sardines.
R12.50 for a liter of wine ( our choice wine)

These prices are at the fx rate taken today.
I have a particular set of skills....... you know the rest. R80 a kg for salmon, norwegian salmon sells for like R200 here

No. I earn Rands from my investments and have retired here. My kids love coming here from the UK as it is about 4* cheaper here.
And I forgot to add that I get 10% discount on this with my card.

Where in Portugal?

Nice. I stocked up last week with the PnP special.

On a side note. That Spar is great. Literally just around the corner from our office.

Yep, I the Spar is awesome, especially if you want a nice cooked meal, but don't want to cook it yourself :p

I live close to it. Drive pass it on my way home from work.

Might pop past Makro and pick up one of those R100 Ryobi glue guns.

Then again the queue will most likely be out the door so might as well buy some more unnecessary stuff:p

The spar here by us is terrible. 2 weeks ago they sold all gold tomato sauce for R17. Then it went on "special" for R25. Now it's back to R17. Why do they do this?

Pick up a few of spend a bit more and get a proper one. Mine barely made it through its first use before it started leaking glue from the nozzle's seal. They include a second nozzle so I can probably use it once more before I have to bin the whole thing or construct myself a seal of some sort. Unless mine is a dud of course ... my luck works like that.
