If every member responds here, I see some big competition for the "thread killer" thread, but then again, stoke might have another shot at #1234 :D

Anyway, mine are:
5. Google
1. Browsed for a while before I decided to join
Na - IC rules. I admit defeet.
Found MyADSL by searching co.za for ADSL and it was the 3rd site on the list, and I had a look and stayed. Was going to register a similar site, sooooo glad I didn't.

ooooo revelation! im pretty sure i read about myadsl in a post over at PlanetMars... course that was before they shut out anyone with an iq of less than 2.. :( Thereafter it was known as the ForbiddenPlanet to this old toad heheh...

WretchedToad :D

3 - I read about MyAdsl in the newspaper/online news.
I've been here for a while, and found out about MyADSL during TheRoDent's sentechsucks saga. I've followed the same path as noone from Sentech to ADSL, I just took a short cut.:)

Happy welcome to all our newbies and guests. Guests please register, as more people we have on board, as more strength we gain!!!

How about creating a special members only section in the forum. Doesn't need to contain very important stuff. But I for one took 3 months to register and start posting. As far as I know you can browse the whole of myadsl, but need to register to post. Some other forums are totally locked until you register and login. That seems a bit extreme, but a section that you can't log into and curiosity might just make you decide to register as a member.

Just a thought.

Could work, but in light of waht this forum is for, I think it would be best if all users can access all the info. Remeber knowledge is power, and the more people educated in telcoms, the stronger we get. :)

I'm all for new members, but they also need to be sensible about their nicks. Not gonna be fun replying to this one in person, or I'll just shorten it to Pufbi :D

Hey U RECKON i SHOULD CHANGE MINE?

its about as long.............

but STOF? hell i reckon i just get a brand new nick like old littleginthe uck!
Are there guidleines to this NICK/identity thing?
I mean what about having a few persona's and some Aliases?
and if one needs to change a nick where do all the posts go?

One of the other major benefits of registering, is that you quietly become part of a very wide network of people in a variety of jobs, with differing skills.. from lawyers, to journalists, to serious network techies, web designers, and policemen - you name it, each of those types is here - and we're all on the same side.
Guests can't ask any questions and get answers - whereas registered members, can tap into this big resource pool of expertise, and get help when necessary.

So register all you anonymous regular visitors - there's no cost, you get no spam from it, (if you're accessing from an office, just make sure you have to manually login each time, so your Employer never learns that you are 'WildForumMember X' by snooping on your pc after hours.)
And come on in and integrate into an extremely useful network of helpful people.

If this great explanation did not convince you yet, remember that you can register 100% anonymously! You do not have to give any personal information if you do not want to. So even if you work for Telkom, ICASA, the DoC, FBI or CIA, nobody will ever know unless you tell them!

some more good reasons to go beyond being a Guest, and actually registering:

-the film discussion evenings,
-book appreciation society meetings,
-flower arranging sessions,
-free origami courses,
-free entrance to the Forum's annual re-enactments of famous massacres
-the chance of getting a cup of tea
-self defence courses (including 'sarcasm' and various kickboxing styles like Muay Thai)
-beginner classes in Cantonese, Mandarin and Swahili,
-special make up and deportment lessons for the cross-dressers and pre-op trannies
among us, (extra attention given if they're really really cute)
-learning courses in the essential basic Holy Scriptures (Apocrypha, Torah, Koran, Bhagavad Gita, Noam Chomsky and The Bible)
-orgies and wine tasting evenings,
-tours of famous battlefields (Rorkes Drift for example) as well as future battlefields (outside Telkoms head office, the steps of the Constitutional Court)
-medical advice on how to stop the bleeding from having punched your PC monitor
-free constant help on just about every aspect of PC and Internet technology
-the chance of becoming known as a Forumite of Advanced Wit and Wisdom
(okay, that's not likely, but provided you dont post messages when drunk, or having just had a relationship breakup, you should be okay)
-courses in how to write Vogon Poetry in response to overseas forumites boasting about their linespeed
-free classes in food allergies, aspartame poisoning and the effects of that fluoride toothpaste you use on your brain tissue,
-the chance on a free hour in the leather sling in the backroom at the Pump House (if that's your thing)
-the enjoyment of speaking with authority and knowledge when dealing with anyone from Telkom or any ISP trying to lie to you.
-naked yoga sessions

etc etc

Yes folks, the benefits just never end. Sign up now, the statistics never lie,
9 out of 10 doctors would agree, that 7 out of 8 forumites will give you advice and help on just about anything you need (and perhaps especially the subjects you never thought you needed any advice on, in the first place.)
