members list, btw 1800 accoutns have a 0 post count and another 500 or so are 1 post accounts and about another 1000 abandoned and 1000 used on special occasions... basically with only about 275 active members and another 200 not so active members the rest are dormant... so dont get em to sign up, get em to post as well
 
I'm fascinated how you come to these conslusions - we have 100 000 independent hits a month - I am certain that a large bulk of these interested parties are registred members. Slimothy, with the validity of our argument being milked by Telkom (they plant a mole Ayanda and then mention that there is dissent in the press based on Ayanda's 12 odd posts) I dont think making sweeping observations such as these are terribly constructive right now.

actually... we counted in another thread and on the #myadsl channel when it came up, see for yourself, tmoose came up with the 275 members over 100 posts thing and I counted 50 pages of 30 0 post users on the member lists (1800) and dfantom said he also counted. (I think it was in the myadsl is addictive thread)

Look nobody is discrediting the hits, this site is the only resource for a hot subject and in google with an ok page rank, the hits are there im just saying get these peopel to post when they sign up because right now you have 500 active people with 200 - 250 active like you and I are and a huge whack of dead accounts

Come on people - add your names to the battle. Its anonymous, its bags of fun and you dont have to post if you dont want to.

Suggestion to rpm

How about allowing guests one or two posts without registering - dangerous, I know - but they will find out that myadslforumites don't bite - and then they may register.
 
Hi guys

While we can open the forums for posting without registration, I think it is a recipe for disaster. It will be very difficult to moderate and I think the quality of discussions will deteriorate. We must just inform the guests that they can register anonymously...therefore the same as being a guest where the only difference is that you now have a voice.

late to this discussion but it seems logical that the number of guests shows a fairly constant turnover to new members while new guests arrive

i.e. people check it out and then a certain percentage will join to be replaced by new guests etc etc

i.e. natural process which needs to be left alone

& every forum needs a silent majority

I've been a guest here for a while and only recently signed up (5001). :p
The reason why so many guests are here is beacuse they prefer to just read the forum (like myself), and unlike members they don't feel the need to post or say anything, thus not signing up to be a member. Some people just wanna read. ;)

Have been promoting myadsl.co.za on the channel i started and boy o boy.
Ppl don't have a clue.


Managed to get +-14 ppl so far to sign up and read the topics

always managing to steer the topic towards something whereby someone has posted somthing here. then i copy the link and make the ppl read it.

they get interested and post back
so far in the last week 14-+ ppl signed up.

Am still in the process of helping out more as they come.

PS. don't forget the more servers we have myadsl.co.za the more ppl that will find out about what is REALLY going on.

I'm registered but depending where I am (which office / at home / anywhere else) I'm often not logged in because I'm just reading -- so I would appear as a guest. Probably a few others who also only login when posting.
