What is the purpose of ink?

Is it used only for aesthetic purposes or does it actually have some use?
afaik, I picked up a black ink bottel a week ago and sold it to one of the merchants in town, didn't know it was worth anythig.

Dyes are purely cosmetic. However, they should always be sold to the dye trader (or other players if they offer more than the dye trader), instead of the normal merchant. Black is scarcer than the rest, therefore you can sell them for more. And it has some l33t value for people who want to look mean, pushing up the price. :)

I once sold a green bow that was apparently worth about 45K at the time, to the merchant from 125 gold, before I knew what green items were. I guess that is how one learns. Sigh.

For dyes, go talk to the dye trader NPC that are in all the major post-searing cities (Ascalon, Lions Arch etc.). They have a price at which they sell dyes and a price for buying them. For trading with other players, to going rate is about the midpoint between these two prices.

If you describe the green shield, including name, attributes and where you got it, I might be able to guess a price, not that I trade actively, so it will be a very rough guess.

Not sure if the jerking is hardware related or connectivity related.

2.8Ghz / 6600GT 128MB / 1GB RAM / 128K ISDN Dialup ...

When i scroll around the landscape i get lots of jerking, any tips ?

They are busy streaming some updates in the background. This can cause some jerkiness depending on your bandwidth. As the updates finish, it should work better, as you have seen. Stay on Europe, I do not think switching to the States will help.

Yes, the general speculation is that they are busy streaming the content for the Factions preview weekend to prevent their servers from collapsing that weekend.

clever unlike Blizzard... ;)

on Yak's Bend, who has managed to defeat the evil dwarf riding on the kodo beasts with NPC's? I manage to kill of 2 of the 4 but keep dying. I take a Fighter, Brawler, Healer, Ranger and Cultist but i cant finish that quest.

Any particular NPC combo which would work best for that mission?

Indeed it is...now you need a guild...

Well, i managed to get my character up 2 level 4 last night, will spend some more time on him this weekend. Then maybe look @ finding some friends.

Wanna get a nice outfit for my warrior tho, the standard one sucks, luv the way the light reflects off my long sword :D

I ended up with my 1st character being a Warrior / Mesmer so we'll see how that pans out.

I never take the the ranger hench. She does not do anything a ranger is good for and gives rangers a bad name. In snow areas I always take Orion. I can also come and help you at some stage if you want.
