*sigh* , was running nicely last night, very jerky today ....

EDIT : I presume the number on the top right of the login screen is the updates? Did 50MB last night, sitting on 8MB again tonight, might be the source of the jerkiness again.

Yes, a lot of people complained about lag last night. I only had one brief spot of lag for about 5 seconds, but others seems to have had more problems. Always hard to know if the problem is Telkom or GW.

Yes, that number with the lightning bolt is the game update data streamed in the background.

Anyone here playing on the PVP server ?

Yes, I sometimes go play a bit, but not that often. I agree, it can be great fun. I however tend to mess around more on the PvE side.

Note, there is actually no PvP server. It is all shared and linked. PvE characters can walk through the doors to the PvP areas, but obviously pure PvP characters cannot go through the doors to the PvE areas, otherwise everybody would just play PvE with level 20 PvP characters.

You should try some PvE as well at some stage, to unlock extra skills and to enjoy the story.

The lag last night around 9pm was so bad for me it wasn't even funny for about 45 mins it was like this, but it eventually came right. My internet browsing and downloading was running just fine, but Guild Wars sometimes couln't even connect. I wonder what that was all about ?

There are different forms of PvP, like Random Area, Hall of Heroes etc. and Guild vs Guild. The only thing that really differs is the arena one is playing in and how a group is created. It is hectic fun all compacted in brief bursts that range from less than a minute to a couple of hours possibly in HoH.

http://www.guildwiki.org/wiki/PvP

The quests and story is all in the PvE area. In PvE one basically follow a story through a set of missions that builds up one's character from level 1 to level 20, with some side quests for extra skills and items. One usually reaches level 20 about half way through the story, depending on how many side quests one does. I do not know if you played Diablo II. GW PvE is very much like that.

There were some Telkom problems last night it seems:

@gkm - did the problematic quest last night and took Orin with. worked out better even when all of us died once but got the quests done. Those etti and beasts are a bugger to fight against. Yikes!

Glad to hear you got it sorted. The beastmasters with their stomp skill is a real pain. What class do you play?

The main problem I've been having with GW is "What to do ?". Often I've run around with no quests in my quest log, looking for something to do. It also seems like I've done things the wrong way around, but I think I'm on the right track now. I've made it Yaks bend (made it quite a while ago - but wasn't supposed to be there - i didn't know any better), although I did have to go back to Ascalon and finish things up there.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

Ahh.. damn, that would explain it.
I got dropped off GW around that time last night. Weird tho, cuz some things worked, and others didn't.
Doing a pathping to the servers kept dying at around the 4th hop (still in telkom network).

Oh, btw - I've setup a forum specifically for GW on War Geeks: http://www.wargeeks.org/forumdisplay.php?f=24
Feel free to take part.

If you do not find any more quests to do, then it is usually a sign that you need to do the next mission. Mission towns are marked on the main map with a shield. The shield for the next mission one needs to do flashes. The flashing is not very bright, so is easy to miss. People often gets confused when they get to Yaks and a couple of other places like that. These do not have a mission and one has to go to the next town to get another mission. Places like Yaks often have a quest that brings one to the next mission town. For Yaks, I think the quest is something like "The way is clear".

Ask on the guild chat if you are wondering about what to do next. Another guildie will usually have the answer.

a shield with two swords across it means the MAIN quests are done with. I dont know though if all towns have two main quests....

The one sword indicates the mission itself is done. The other sword indicates the bonus objective for the mission is also completed. All missions has a bonus objective for earning the second sword.
