aaahhhhh.... that wasnt in the manual... :p

thanks gkm! :D

Actually it is :) . Near the end of the manual, that's how I was able to figure it out. You haven't read it properly have you ?;)

Did my first quest at Yaks bend last night. Sheesh the creatures are a lot tougher, but the items dropped are more rewarding too. More gold, better items. I also noticed that the party has increased from 4 slots to 6 slots...thats cool.

So tonight has been my first night interacting with the folk on GW, what a suprise, most peeps are really helpfull and friendly

Yes, most people in the game are very friendly. The game prevents most forms of griefing like player killing etc, so a lot of griefers have to find other online games to have their sad form of fun.

There are scammers in the game. Nobody has ever tried to scam me in the 5 months I have been playing and only one person once tried to scam my wife with a run (he wanted the money upfront for a Droks run, instead of in the usual two places) and she simply told him to go away.

However, I would recommend that everybody playing GW read this page to be safer:

It is hard to get much past level 8 in pre-searing. It is not the end of the world if you miss a quest or two. Just make sure you have the rez signet and the secondary profession. (Note, is is do-able to get to level 20 for people with more time that common sense. You can have the monsters kill you repeatedly at a resurrect shrine until they are about four levels above you, then you kill them for the experience. Rinse and repeat for weeks and you have a level 20 character in pre-sear. And a huge death count.)

It has also been confirmed that the extra content that is being streamed in the background at the moment is the content for the Factions (aka chapter 2) preview weekend:

It is supposed to be a new story. So, I would not worry about that if I were you.

28 April is the official worldwide release date for Factions, so we seem to be on time for a change.

Note, after the streamed updates, one can now actually view some of the new armors when creating a PvP character. One cannot put the armors on one's character, but can get an idea from the pictures on the list. I was relaxed about the Factions release date until today. Now that I have seen the new armors, I simply cannot wait any more. Sigh.

a noob question .... are all quests done in solo mode? (not a few ppl joining in a party) If so i think guild wars suck. I have heard that they will be making sides sort of like in wow horde vs alliance.

I major part of wow's greatness is random pvp combat when encountering opposing races... This is the best part of wow and is serverly lacking in guildwars

All quests can be done in solo mode with computer controlled hench. If you are good enough, you can also do some quests completely solo. However, it is normally faster to do quests with other real people.

Yes, random PvP while playing in PvE is impossible. I like it that way. I like it that when I am doing my thing, nobody can walk up behind me and kill me for no good reason.

Another anoyying thing is that you can't jump! When you use to jumping and blinking around in WoW and to shifted to simple movements its anoyying.

You seem to be repeating some of the standard stuff that gets posted on WoW forums to bash GW. There is also a lot of standard comments being posted on GW forums to bash WoW. Personally I cannot see the point of this fanboy nonsense. I can say from personal experience that I enjoy GW. WoW also must be very enjoyable, otherwise 6 million people would not have been playing it. What all these fanboys forget is that the games are different. That does not make the one good and the other bad, whichever side one picks. If all games were the same, it would have been very sad in my opinion.

I enjoy games in general, so I suspect I would have enjoyed playing both GW and WoW. Unfortunately, I have limited time, so had to pick one. Now that I have made my choice, you will just annoy me if you try to tell me I made the wrong choice just because I cannot jump. :( It will not change my choice. And small points like jumping or not has very little effect on if a game is fun or not in my opinion.

Look i'd say gkm has got alot more patience than me answering your question and all but not me. So you dont like Guildwars dont play it and get out of this thread and go to your WOW threads.....

I'll tell you this if Guildwars came out first a couple years ago and wow now first came out, the situation would be the other way around and then another point not eveerybody on this entire freaken planet likes the same game or the same idea around a game so if you have nothing good to say rather just keep quiet. This thread is not here for someone to come and bash Guildwars if you wanna do that create another thread to do so.....This thread is here to help out people of Guildwars who like playing Guildwars

GOT THAT!!!!!

I have started playing guildwars ... it is exactly wat other noobies starting to play would like to know. Basic questions and comparisons. The new GW's coming out will change GW for the better im just wondering if I should wait and start one time with the expansion.

That is hard to say. The 6 weeks left before the second chapter comes out is certainly enough to play throught the first chapter story at least once. Guess it depends on what you want.
