Gym, exercise, etc.

I'm actually pretty good these days. :)

Cool.

But from personal experience I know that man is a creature of habit.

Hauling your backside to a gym is quite an effort ... hence the requirement of being use to doing something that is not in your comfort zone.

Getting rid of your comfort zone, one little piece at a time, is the way to go ... I think.

You are absolutely right, for sure.

As it happens though, that process was started when I moved to a new city a year ago, which was a huge shock in terms of my comfort zone. One year down the line though, things are working out, and doing more seems like a natural path to take at this stage.

A baby...then a young child and so on :)

We realy need to get some sort of manuscript or something I thought something small is more like a rabbit or a chicken. Will have to stock up on more babies now.

Come boxing. I'd recommend The Armoury in Woodstock. You'd shed the weight damn fast.

I'm 1.79m and I went from 80 to 74 in 3 months and I didn't have much to lose in the first place.

Hey bud. You boxing at Armoury these days? I was training at Takedown Diep River for a while but then had to stop my boxing (doctors orders)... Fell out of my routine very quickly and actually need to get off my arse and get fit again!

If you are like me and hate being in a room full of sweaty people grunting away at their routines, there is an option- bodyweight.

These exercises are from a book called convict conditioning.

For cardio, go to the nearest beach, take off your shoes and take a jog. Not wearing shoes gives your legs a really good workout.

No shoes on our beaches also gives you a nasty cut.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger :p

Anyway what beach are you talking about, I run at the Strand and have never had any problems. Then again, running isn't exactly easy for me so I don't zone out like other people seem to do.

Yebo, that I am. I've been off for a month though. Took a break after the last fight.

Back to it next week (or so I keep telling myself!).

go to bodybuilding.com, pick a training program and stick with it, try Kris Gethin, I'm doing this, its hard, but stick to weights that you can handle, form is better than weight:

Check your diet and try do the following:
Mix your proteins, Chicken, Tuna, Fish, etc
Eat loads of dark green veg
Drink Green tea
Eat at least 6 times per day, chicken breast and salad etc
Eat good clean carbs, brown rice and sweet potatoes etc
Take your measurements and track your progress, if you dont track you wont know if you doing anything at all

Rem, its takes time, if you going to get on the sale daily and or look in the mirror daily, your chances of quitting is good, results take time, so stay focused, dont make excuses and keep hitting the gym each day, give yourself a good solid 6 months of heart and soul and you will see the results

Best of luck

I go to Claremont maybe once a week, but there are belters-a-plenty. Contrary to the anorexic housewives of Constantia anyway.

Yup, I shop there fairly often, lots of the beautiful people strutting about...

I'm not sure how I feel about boxing, and at least in the initial stages of my body adventure, I suspect I'd prefer to grunt, sweat and groan in isolation... :D

I have a book on body weight exercises, and I've not done anything with it for the past year. I'm hoping that by signing up to gym, I will be more inclined to actually do something.

I've been one of those who constantly go through phases of gym for a full week, then nothing for a month, then back, then nothing ... and as a result I have no progress to show for it. As such I can offer absolutely no worthwhile advice to you except, take steroids and be done with it :p J/K

I do not enjoy gym at all, I find it immensely boring and a serious chunk of my day gone and the moment my stamina hits I'm over it, but I do want to be fit and have a decent body. The only way to win in this situation, and I suspect you may be in a similar boat in time, is to find a way to enjoy it or make it worthwhile - and those are purely mind games.

FYI JeFit is quite a nice app on Android to keep to a schedule and check progress.

I also find it boring...I want to be fit, but it's just so boring.

I used to do spinning as at least there was some decent music, but have you even sat on a bike with the same view for an hour to an hour and a half?

BOOOOORING!
