Hacker bust for virtual theft

tsk tsk! stolen goods are normally fenced(sold) you don't put it in your own pad! silly little boy! :D

stole £2500 worth of virtual furniture

The furniture is purchased with special Habbo credits but the credits are paid for with real money.

So he stole real money, equivalent to R34,362. He deserves to be prosecuted in my opinion.

lmao @ burglary. So if he managed to kill off another player's character, he'd be charged with murder? rofl

7 million people pay real money to decorate their virtual hotel rooms with virtual furniture? - must be a training ground for aspiring interior decorators or something - weird, the hotel owner should be furnishing the rooms - stingy bastard that the owner is.

BTW, it sounds like the 'hacker' is more of a phisher with them fake "Habbo" sites.

Guess he should have a trial by a virtual judge, getting his virtual character locked up in a virtual jail :)

well, the virtual crime was committed in the virtual world after all :D

A spokesman for Sulake, the company that operates Habbo Hotel, said: “The accused lured victims into handing over their Habbo passwords by creating fake Habbo websites.

Technically speaking, is that hacking? Like if I convince you to give me your house keys, and then steal stuff when your gone, is that a break in?

Plus, it seems ridiculous that someone is convicted of stealing in a virtual world. Next people will be arrested for stats padding in BF2 :p

Okay, so those people paid money for their credits, so they did lose out, but come on how dumb do you have to be to pay money for virtual furniture in the first place? I mean seriously!
