Hannes Dreyer - Wealth Creator

So which part of his course did you find the most disturbing or are we generalizing again?

I've seen enough of this kind of sh*t on TV, UTube and advertorials to know it is a crock...some loudmouth with a fake tan running around on stage, spewing bs, with a bunch of mouthbreathers with glazed eyes sitting staring at him, dreaming about turning that R1000 into a million. Well, their second R1000 at least, the first R1000 went towards the seminar/course fees.

The same idiots who go to time share seminars and buy timeshare...only to pi$$ and moan about it on HelloPeter 2 years later.

You'd think a successful wealth creator wouldn't need to charge any money for his seminars. The real wealth creators are giving $500mil away to malaria research

They all charge....creates wealth you see. The topic at the seminar is not of importance

I'm not taking it personal mate. I just refuse to be average. Personally, I've used many of Hannes' principles most notably to go back to university, affect a career change and to pay for it all by myself. I just find it silly that people have seen one or two bad apples and lump everyone within the same basket.

A former colleague did the same course with me and made a killing buying property in 2009. As I've said before, do some research before making up your mind.

Cheers

You'd also think that you wouldn't value free advice nearly as much as something you'd have to pay for.

So that's a no then?

You needed Hannes' principles for this? This advice you should get for free from your dad. And your buddy bought property in 2009 and made a killing?? Who didn't? 2009 was the year the property market bubble burst and you could buy houses for really cheap....

Wake up and smell the coffee.

So you still can't tell me anything about what his course entails then? Btw, I didn't need Hannes for anything. His principles just helped me distil what it is I wanted and figure out how to get there. Just because you don't need the information doesn't mean other people don't either. Also, you don't know anything about me or my situation so please refrain from getting personal.

Groupthink seems to be a real thing on mybroadband.

Sounds dodgy... I have friends who have lost their life savings on scammers like this.

Good to see that most agree with me. A top-drawer dimwhit in my view. I went to one of his courses probably about 6 or 7 years ago. What a chop. I see he is still advertsing his courses. Cannot believe he is still going - feeding off the middle-class glassy-eyed that hope to turn R1 451.464327 (rounded) into R1 487 983.546865 in less than 3 months, 4 days, 8 hours and 7 seconds.

Just like all other "earn RXXX from home in less than 4 hours a week" crap. He also has several websites advertising the same crap. No real info given untill you fork out a few grand. Those financials posted shows nothing other than how he made millions from people forking out a few grand to him.

What a showoff CV that is.

Since you've been to one if these, mind bullet pointing a few his "lessons" for us ignorant losers?

The lady doth protest too much.

You're taking this way too personal.
The entrepreneurs you speak off don't need this guy. They are born with this drive, vision and luck to make it. I see it in my friend every day.
The average person needs to be realistic and make peace with the fact that when he retires, being debt free and owning a decent car and house is as good as it gets. And you get there by spending less than you earn and saving the difference.

So, if someone disagrees with your point of view they're automatically a moron, dimwit and lacking in logic? And since you see this drive in your friend everyday is it so hard to believe that I have friends who were financially illiterate and by educating themselves they now see opportunities they were previously blind to? How would someone know they're good at rugby or cricket if they don't even know the game exists?

Also, if entrepreneurs don't need this guy I wonder what your thoughts are on courses like the entrepreneurship course taught at the UCT Graduate School of Business.

So, you're assuming that everybody has access to this information? Meanwhile the average South African is financially illiterate and drowning in debt. Additionally, how many people got burnt when the property bubble burst cause they had no idea how to mitigate the risk of investing in property?

Sounds dodgy... I have friends who have lost their life savings on scammers like this.

Sounds Gary, sounds. Beyond the cost for the course you owe him nothing.

You and I must have attended different courses because the one I went to taught me that it's hard work, that I will always be educating myself, that I need to learn to run the numbers and think for myself and that in all cases I should mitigate risk. At the end of the day I got all this information in one place and I'd happily pay the money again. He's selling a system which as far as I can tell works. Your mileage may vary but this is all dependent on how much sweat equity you're putting in.

I assure this is not what it's about. All he's teaching is the same stuff that you tell people in threads about rental property. How did you become so knowledgeable on the topic?

from https://za.linkedin.com/pub/hannes-dreyer/18/67a/178

"Commonwealth Open University
PhD, Interdisciplinary studies
2003 – 2006"

"Commonwealth Open University
MSc, Economy
2003 – 2005"

So he did his PhD together with his MSc (not impossible, but difficult to get an M upconverted), after dropping out of Tuks after a few semesters as an undergraduate? Also Commonwealth Open University is an unaccredited institution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unaccredited_institutions_of_higher_education), basically a "dimploma mill" (http://www.myfoxdc.com/story/191156...egrees-from-diploma-mill?clienttype=printable)

Charlatan of note!

What does that even mean?

Ok let's do this then:

How many of his seminars/lectures have you attended?
When did you attend and how much did it cost?
What amount have you then taken and converted to a much much bigger amount and how long did it take?

Idiot Hannes....property is no longer an investment

Ja ja use the banks money
Buy at the right price in high rental areas....low to medium cost housing
Get refinance on equity of first property...buy another
Set up in trusts.....blah blah blah

The leader in that field is Treoc...btw

It means precisely that. I went to his course in 2008. I did his property investment course and I think it cost about R2500. At that course I learnt about concepts such internal rates of return, net present values and how important cashflow is to an investment especialy property. Then I go back to university and lo and behold in second year finance these same concepts are taught as fundamental ways of evaluating investment spend.

I also applied these concepts to evaluate companies listed on the JSE, invested cash and used the profits to pay for my university education. My question still stands, how much do you think the average South African knows about internal rates of return et al? What may be common sense to you might not be common sense to others. To a certain extent I get where you're coming from but I found value in what the guy said. Why does that make me an idiot?
