Nearly a year ago the prices for a 2TB was retailed at R900. Now, since that floods the price has increased by 30% in some cases. Does anyone here know when the price intends to subside again? I have 4x1TB and 1x1.5...still too scared to buy bigger then 2TB, to lose all of those data in one go can be risky.
What you say?:erm:

the larger capacity 2TB and 3TB drives seem to be normalizing in price quite quickly...
but the smaller 500gb and 1TB drive prices are still ridonculous!!!

EDIT : and i suspect this is due to the fact that people are still buying drives at this price out of neccesity...so suppliers are milking it.

lol, i think you mean went up by 300%.

In the next 2-4 months we should see price drops :D.

Game has for example 2TB @ R999.00 so not to far off :)

makro have no drives on special for easter :(

bought one of those 2tb's for 999 the other day.

The prices of 2tb is actually not bad infact according to UK Custom pc magazine at this point in time 2tb is the best value for money.price per gig value is much better then any smaller drive. They recommend the 2tb seagate green drive. When I looked at the price few days ago it went for about 1,2k at Sybaritic.

But yea 2tb is risky but it is a risk most of us will have to take. I would recommend buying 2 one for backup if your budget allows it ofcourse.

R1200??? Good value?

Se voet, I bought mine for R799 awhile ago, and won't be buying again until its in that price range again.

yea well compared to the prices of 1tb and smaller it's not bad... it's still not nearly as good as it was awhile ago.

Yea, .. I'm running on low.. Might have to sit and do a clean up to see how many GB i can salvage..

My 2TB is red lining at the moment. :(

I see Esquire have the new Hitachi 4TB drives now. R3800 is a bit stiff for a hard drive though :/

Just so you know, seagate ie ****. Their green drives only have 1year warranty. The western digital green drives atleast still have a measly 2year.
